A .177” Gem type air gun, 34” overall, smooth bore round barrel 17¾” with matted flat top, number 54224 (the last 3 digits repeated on other parts), with Lane’s type barrel locking catch and varnished walnut butt. GWO & basically GC (original blued finish showing through surface rust, barrel pivot and cocking lever bolts crudely replaced); a .177” pre war slant grip Webley Mark I air pistol, number 56255, WO & basically GC (surface rust and light pitting); a .177” BSA Cadet air rifle, GWO & QGC; and a Diana G25 air rifle. A .450” Westley Richards Patent underlever single shot sporting rifle, number 1485, 47” overall, barrel 30” with three folding leaf and ladder rearsights on sighting rib, the breech marked “Henry’s Patent Rifling”, “For No 2 Case”, etc, the scroll engraved frame marked “Westley Richards/ Patent Rifle/ 170 New Bond St, London”, halfstocked with chequered fore end and wrist. A bayonet practice rifle, the spring cylinder stamped with broad arrow and ordnance inspector’s mark, the butt with broad arrow and “1915” (a little faint); and a French 1874 Gras bayonet, the blade marked “Paris Oudry 1879”, in its scabbard (rusted overall) with non matching numbers. An 11mm Spanish Remington rolling block rifle, 50½” overall, barrel 35” with stepped and sliding ladder rearsight, the breech stamped “EN”, the frame tang with Remington address and patent dates, the walnut fullstock with 3 barrel bands, sling swivels and cleaning rod, the butt deeply carved with “A109” (last figure indistinct). A .577” Enfield 3 band percussion rifle, 54½” overall, barrel 39” with ordnance proofs and government sale mark, the lock marked with crowned “VR”, “1858 Tower” and ordnance inspector’s marks, fullstocked with regulation brass mounts, the butt plate tang engraved “V/ 10th/ LR/ No 30”, with sling swivels and original steel ramrod. GWO & basically GC (worn, the metalwork has been rusty and partly cleaned, the muzzle plugged, the butt split). Plate 4
A scarce 9.5mm Turkish Model 1887 Mauser bolt action tube magazine rifle, number 197495, 49½” overall, barrel 30”, the octagonal breech with toughra mark and arsenal (?) marks, the receiver with long Turkish inscription, with cleaning rod and sling swivels. GWO & clean condition, the barrel blued, the mounts bright. These rifles are now scarce because the ammunition was only manufactured for a short period and the rifles were widely destroyed. Plate 4
**A scarce .303” Lee Metford Mk I* bolt action rifle, number 9582, the frame stamped with crown over “VR/ Enfield/ 1890/ I*”, with dust cover to bolt, magazine cut off, chained magazine and volley sights, the butt stamped with clear Enfield storekeeper’s mark over “I*/I” (1st Class reserve) and inset with brass disc stamped “11/ 1896/ V./ 21MX/40” (21st Middlesex Rifle Volunteers). GWO & C (cleaning rod and lower sling swivel missing, metalwork with much congealed grease). Plate 4

**A scarce .303” SMLE Mk V bolt action rifle, number A2420, with wide ladder aperture rearsight, the frame stamped with crown over “GR/ Enfield/ 1924/ Sht. LE/ V”, the butt with filled regimental disc cut out. GWO & C (slight wear, some of the metalwork with congealed grease). A number of Mk Vs were made for trial by troops, but it proved unsatisfactory and the weapon was never officially introduced in the British Service. It was eventually abandoned for a new design which became the Mk VI. Plate 5
**A .303” No 4 Mk I* Long Branch Sniper Rifle, number 36L5033, the frame marked “No 4 Mk I*/ Long Branch/ 1943”, the butt with added cheek rest; with its correct No 32 Mk I sniper sight, number 6339, dated 1941, the rifle butt also stamped “6339” behind the frame, and with Canadian Government mark on the underside; with recent Nitro Proofs. GWO & C; in its wooden crate, the side stencilled “Chest S.A. No 15 Mk I”, the lid stencilled with rifle and sight serial numbers, containing leather sling and original steel No 8 Mark I case for the sight, dated 1941, the lid also painted with the rifle and sight serial numbers, containing adjusting tool and leather lens-covers.
