A BOYS' BRIGADE 'DUMMY' DRILL RIFLE late 19th / early 20th century, the stock stamped 'Edwards / 61 Commercial St. / Newport' and numbered '22', 112cm long. Note: Drill rifles were used by members of the Boys' Brigade between 1883, the year in which the movement was founded, and the First World War.
Various Victorian and later brass and other metal military buttons, to include Navy button, 2cm dia. raised with anchor, New Zealand, 17th Lancers with skull and cross bones, other Victorian buttons, Canadian buttons, pre-1855 Pewter Second West India Regiment button, 18 Lancers India, diamond shaped Cameronians Scottish Rifle buttons, etc. (3 cards)
Rifle Officers 1845 Pattern Sword, regulation blade by Fenton Bros, Sheffiled, etched with crowned GvR cipher, royal arms and foliage, regulation nickel hilt with crowned strung bugle in guard, wire bound fish skin grip, in its brown leather field service scabbard. Blade 83cms. Good condition.
Imperial German 1871 Pattern Mauser Rifle Bayonet, brass grip and steel cross guard with muzzle ring. Single edged blade with central fuller, blade length 46 ½ cms. Makers mark to the base of the blade but this is not clear, spine stamped with crowned W 75 and acceptance stamp. Housed in its original leather scabbard with brass mounts. Top scabbard mount with regimental stampings, lower mount damaged and piece missing.
Rare Bavarian Werder Sword Bayonet Converted For Use With The Mauser 1871 Rifle, brass ribbed hilt, steel cross guard with downward quillon and muzzle ring, stamped “76 214”. Yataghan blade with central fuller. Some surface staining to the blade. Housed in the original leather and brass mounted scabbard. Lower chape stamped “51987 7 JB e” and the other side “B16Rg 38”. Scabbard has painted in white a old museum collection number “G.29”. Good overall condition.
German K98 Mauser Bayonet, two piece wooden grips, two waffen ampt stamps to the top and “C 4544”. Un-marked blade with fuller measuring 24 ½ cms in length. Housed in the original steel scabbard. Accompanied by a British 1907 India pattern bayonet for the Mk1 SMLE short magazine Lee-Enfield rifle, stamped to the blade with crowned “GRI Mk II I 44 R.F.I”. Housed in the original scabbard and remains in very good overall condition. (2 items)
.450” Martini Henry 2 Band Rifle, frame stamped ‘LSA Co. 1875’ and struck with crowned broad arrow, II and 2; regulation iron mounts with inspector’s stamps, butt now with extensive stampings and now inlaid with modern brass plate stamped ‘Recovered at Rorke’s Drift Zululand, by J N Crealock 1879’. Great War Casualty 1914-15 Star Medal Trio and Bronze Memorial Plaque 7th Battalion The Rifle Brigade, the medals were awarded to “B-2797. PTE. J. DAWSON. RIF:BRIG:” Plaque named to “JAMES DAWSON”. Comes with an original photograph of a war memorial with Private Dawson’s name on it. James Dawson was born in Bradford Lancashire and enlisted into the 7th Battalion, the Rifle Brigade 1915. He went overseas with the battalion on the 20th May 1915, and was killed in action on the 18th August 1916, during an attack on Orchard trench in Delville wood, and is buried in Delville Wood Military Cemetery.

Central oak leaf wreath with garter strap having regimental details and shied, scroll to the bottom with motto and City of London shield. Two lug fittings to the reverse.

VGC Rifle Corps raised in 1887 comprising two Squadrons; disbanded circa 1937, its remaining members joining the Ceylon Planters.

Within a Crowned strap inscribed 'Claro Rifles', a Castle with hand grasping a branch above; beneath the strap, a strung bugle. Scroll beneath 'Loyal Yet Free'. Three screw posts to reverse. VGC 16th at Harrogate; 17th at Knaresborough.

Crowned star bearing laurel sprays and strap 'Hants Rifle Volunteers'; voided centre bearing shield charged with three roses. the County Arms. Three loops to reverse. VGC Uniquely this unit's helmet plates, both Officer's and OR's, had a voided section between the crown and star.

Rifle Volunteers'; voided centre bearing shield charged with Crown and Rose (from Arms of Southampton). Three loops to reverse. VGC HQ at Southampton. Became a VB of the Regiment on Friday 1st July 1881; redesignated 2nd VB on 18th August 1885.
1st Somersetshire Rifle Volunteers Victorian OR's helmet plate circa 1880-81 A good rare short-lived die-stamped white metal example. Crowned star bearing laurel wreath and strap inscribed '1st Somersetshire R.V.', strung bugle to voided centre. Three pinched and opened loops to reverse. VGC Became 1st VB Somerset Light Infantry in 1881.

Guelphic crowned 'Waterloo' tablet on laurel wreath bearing numerous honours. Central Maltese cross bearing circlet inscribed 'Rifle Brigade' and crowned strung bugle; battle honours to each arm of the cross. Pagri pin to reverse. VGC
