A pair of aluminum opera glasses, with blue enamel. CONDITION REPORT: The lenses are in good order, no signs of any cracks or mould but there is dust to the interior. The metal shows sign of damage towards the objective lens commensurate with being dropped against something hard. This would be approximately 4 mm in length. The enamel is in generally very good condition although there are losses to most of the silver star motifs but they are still in good useable condition.
A late Victorian walnut and ebonised magnifying viewer. 36 cm x 22 cm x 10 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The viewer appears to be all complete with no missing pieces. It hinges and operates as it should. The lens has a small 1 cm long series of edge nibbles right of the extremity of the lens next to the ebonised frame. This is just visible but barely significant. The chamfered ebonised edge of the frame has very minor veneer losses along the top edge on the opposite side to the hinges. There are some surface scuffs to the walnut veneer but no significant issues. When viewed from the rear on the centre section there is a small veneer loss and crack beneath the left hand hinge.
An early 19th century zograscope, raised on a turned mahogany stand. Height 61 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The wood surrounding the lens has a split to either side which should be apparent from the photograph and the mirror has started to degrade slightly starting in the top left hand corner with blemishes moving diagonally. The column where the turn screw joins shows sign of a split although this appears to be quite stable.
