The Steky came with interchangeable lenses, variable shutter and aperture speeds in a very robust camera. Some sub-miniature enthusiasts still use these cameras by carefully loading their cassettes with perforated 16mm film. Once a common sight at camera shows the Steky is now hard to find. He was awarded the British Distinguished Service Cross as a Commander in the Royal Naval Reserve during the Second World War. Villiers also trained as a pilot, 1937-38, and sailed with Arab dhows in the Persian Gulf, 1938-39.He settled in England and when he died on 3 March 1982 at Oxford he was survived by his wife and three children.
