Leather work with gilt tooled “GOGGLE MASK FLYING MARK II THE TRIPLEX GOGGLE MASK & LENS CO LTD” and with A over broad arrow. Complete with the strap to the reverse. Accompanied by another pair of early leather framed flying goggles in well worn condition. (2 items)

WW1 Period Royal Navy Officers Single Draw Telescope, white metal example with bound roped covering to the centre. Engraved “LIEU A L GRESSON RN”. Complete with the lens cap. Stamped “ROSS LONDON No50460” and “MADE FOR GIEVE MATTHEWS & SEAGROVE LTD LONDON PORTSMOUTH & DEVONPORT”. Generally good condition.Captain Arthur Leslie GRESSON, R.N. Born in Ireland in 1879, he entered the training ship HMS Britannia in 1893 and was appointed midshipman in 1896. As midshipman of the cruiser HMS Fox he was present in the Sierra Leone campaign of 1898 and took part in the boat expeditions to Port Lokko and on the Bumpe River. He was promoted lieutenant in 1901, and in 1910 became first and gunnery lieutenant of the cruiser Proserpine in the East Indies. In this ship he was engaged in operations to suppress gun-running in the Persian Gulf, during the course of which he was slightly wounded. He was promoted commander in 1913 and in 1916 appointed to the cruiser HMS Lancaster, of which he had command in the Pacific as Flag-Captain to Rear-Admiral P.H. Colomb. He retired in 1926 and died on the Isle of Wight in 1931.
