An early 20th century mahogany cased brass and black lacquered sextant by H Hughes & Son of London, the scale numbered 17016, patent 2274/28, with ivory adjusting knob and the National Physical Laboratory in Teddington label, length 23cm, lacking key, with additional lenses. CONDITION REPORT: The sextant has been kept in a box for many years, locked in the case with no key, therefore to be able to access it we had to unscrew the top of the lid, the main body with several areas of green residues throughout, traces of wear and areas of flaking to lacquering, particularly to the attached scope/lens. The sextant is in poor condition with splits, missing parts and heavy mould.
