Unbenutzt, ein früher Vorläufer in möglicher Konkurrenz zu den Optiken von Ludwig Bertele. Linsenaufbau der Optik mit 8 Glas-Luftübergängen: vorne Einzellinse von 44 mm Ø dicht an Irisblende, dahinter im Rückglied in einem Tubus von 42 mm Ø zwei dünne Einzellinsen mit Abstandhalter, gefolgt von einem dicken, dreilinsig verkitteten Linsenblock, dessen Endfläche außen an der Optik von 38 mm Ø von einem Gewinde nur festgehalten wird. Bildausleuchtung von wohl weit über 85 mm Ø bei offener Blende und unendlich. An einer 6x6-SLR planparallel hilfsmontiert und ohne Lupe im Fokus-Spielraum betrachtet, sieht das Bild auf der Mattscheibe gut ausgeleuchtet aus, ohne Bildfeldwölbung und ohne auffallende Reflexe. Mit Prüfobjekten und starker Lupe getestet ergibt sich ein professionell nutzbarer Bildkreis von ca. 50 mm Ø, der bei Abblendung anwächst. Glas unter Punktlicht sauber, alle Linsenelemente schraubbar. - Es kann sein, daß hier auch an ein Format von 4,5 x 6 cm gedacht wurde, doch machte das Ermanox-Objektiv das Rennen, auch in Hinsicht auf den Welterfolg Sonnar unter der späteren Ägide von Zeiss. - Literatur: Erhard Bertele, "Ludwig J. Askania-Bipack-Kamera, um 1931Bamberg-Werke, Berlin-Friedenau. Spezialkamera auf der Grundlage der bewährten Askania Z, Filmkamera für vier 120m-Blechkassetten. Filmtyp: 35mm-Nor­mal­film. Objektiv: Pan Tachar Astro Berlin 2,3/50 mm. Suchersystem: Der Film dient als Mattscheibe und die Fernrohrlupe zeigt ein seitenrichtiges großes Bild. Bildschaltwerk: Vierfachgreifer mit Sperrgreifer. Umlaufsektor verstellbar. Rückseitig: Tacho B/s und Zählwerke für Metrage und Einzelbilder. Antrieb durch einen großen vielfach schaltbaren 12V-Motor der Bamberg-Werke Berlin. - Elektrische Funktionen nicht geprüft. - Dabei: Askania-Kompendium und das große und schwere Askania-Holzstativ mit Fahrspinne. - Vor der Erfindung der subtraktiven Mehrfarben-Nega­tivfilme um 1938 wurden gefilterte Farbauszüge auf den vorhandenen Schwarzweiß-Film aufgenommen. In der Kamera liefen für die drei Grundfarben Rot, Grün, Blau gleichzeitig drei Filmstreifen (Technicolor USA). Später war es den Chemikern gelungen, einen der Filmstreifen für zwei Farbauszüge zu adaptieren. Beim "Bipack"-Verfahren werden ein orthochromatischer grün- und blauempfindlicher Frontfilm und ein panchromatischer rotempfindlicher Rückfilm Schicht auf Schicht belichtet. Für dieses "Bipack" genannte Farbverfahren genügten zwei in der Kamera laufende Filmstreifen. Dafür stellte Askania auf der Leipziger Herbstmesse diese neue Kamera vor (Ausstellungsbericht "Die Kinotechnik" von 1931). Obwohl diese "Bipack"-Kamera auch für das schwarzweiße Wandermaskenverfahren (heute "Stanzen" genannt) verwendbar war, zeigten die Kameramänner nur mäßiges Interesse an der Neuvorstellung. Inzwischen war bekannt, daß die Agfa-Werke in Wolfen und die Kodak Eastman-Werke in Rochester an Mehrfarbenfilmen arbeiteten, mittels derer jede Kamera zur einstreifigen "Farbkamera" werden konnte. Im Vergleich zu der in großen Stückzahlen produzierten Askania Z wurden nur wenige "Bipack"-Kameras in den Bamberg-Werken hergestellt. - Literatur: "Photo-Anti­quaria" (Club Daguerre) von 2013, Nr. 116, S. 4-10. - Die "Askania-Bipack"-Kamera ist deshalb eine große Rarität. Three film strips (technicolor) ran simultaneously through the camera for the three primary colors - red, green and blue. Chemists subsequently succeeded in adapting one of the films for two-color separations. In this "Bipack" color two film strips in the camera were sufficient. An orthochromatic green and blue sensitive front film and a panchromatic red sensitive rear film are exposed layer by layer. Askania presented their new camera at the Leipzig autumn fair (exhibition report "Die Kinotechnik" from 1931). Although this "Bipack" camera could also be used for the black-and-white traveling mask process (now called "stamping"), camera operators showed only moderate interest in the new idea. It was widely known that the Agfa in Wolfen and Eastman Kodak in Rochester were both working on new multi-color films that would enable any camera to become a single-strip "color camera." Compared to the Askania Z, which was sold in large numbers, only a few "Bipack" cameras were produced in the Bamberg factories. - Literature: "Photo Antiquaria" (Club Daguerre Germany) from 2013, no. 116, pp. 4-10. - The "Askania Bipack" camera is, therefore, a great rarity. Vichy, Paris, 5 Articles Français, Marque Deposé, Modele Deposé", der Torso mit Federwerkmotor und Walzenspielwerk für 2 Melodien, in goldfarbenem Seidenkostüm mit Metallstickerei, Kopfschmuck und Dekor mit Original-Münzen, Höhe 51 cm einschließlich Kopfschmuck, mit eichelförmigem Stopp/Start-Hebel und modernem Schlüssel, Oberfläche der Vorderseite restauriert, guter funktionierender und spielender Zustand. - Dies ist Teil einer Serie von Vichy-Automaten, die an die polychrom bemalten Bronzebüsten französischer Künstler wie Émile Guillemin und Charles Cordier erinnern. Der Eindruck einer bewegenden Skulptur wird durch die anmutige Modellierung des Gesichts und der Hände sowie durch den schlanken Sockel in Anlehnung an die Bronzebüsten noch verstärkt. Von der Wahl des Themas über den Stil des Kostüms bis hin zum Instrument, das sie spielt, wurde der Automat von der Faszination des 19. Jahrhunderts für Exotik beeinflußt, die afrikanische Kulturen aus der europäischen Perspektive darstellte. - Die Musikerin dreht und neigt ihren Kopf sanft nach links und rechts, blinzelt und scheint das Instrument mit einer Zupfbewegung des rechten Arms zu spielen. - Dieses Exemplar wurde von David Secrett und Margaret Glover liebevoll restauriert. - Literatur: Q. Vichy, Paris, 5 Articles Français, Marque Deposé, Modele Deposé", the torso containing going-barrel motor and two-air cylinder movement, in gold silk costume with metallic embroidery, headdress and the original coin decoration, ht. 20 in. (51 cm) including headdress, with acorn-form stop / start and modern key, surface of face restored, good working and playing condition. - Note: Part of a series of Vichy automata reminiscent of the polychrome-painted bronze busts by French artists such as Émile Guillemin and Charles Cordier. The impression of an animated sculpture is heightened by the graceful modelling of the face and hands and the slender plinth base in imitation of its bronze counterparts. From the choice of subject, to the style of costume and the instrument she plays, the automaton was influenced by a 19th century fascination with 'exoticism' that reflected African cultures through a European lens. - The musician turns and gently bows her head to the left and right, blinks and appears to play the instrument with a lifting and plucking motion of the right arm. - This example has been sympathetically restored by David Secrett and Margaret Glover. - Literature: Q.
