Winchester 1895 .303 lever action rifle LICENCE REQUIRED Winchester 1895 .303 lever action rifle, 28inch barrel, serial number 21920 for 1898 / 1899 fitted with Weaver 3-9 X 50 scope.UK FIREARMS LICENCE WITH .303 VARIATION REQUIRED116.5cm long The rifle has had a fair amount of use but looks to have been well looked after. The bore shows moderate use but a strong rifling pattern remains. There is a dent to the face of the muzzle at the edge where it meets the side of the barrel. This does not affect the crown which is in good order. The rifle lacks a rear sight. The bluing is fading in places around the action and on the barrel, there are some light pitting patches which can be seen. The action works correctly and is very smooth to operate. The stock has some small dents and scratches, there is a short split to the thin part of the wrist of the stock where it meets the action see image 4 online. The scope has a small scratch the the coating of the objective lens but it otherwise appears in good order with small signs of use. It adjusts correctly.
Military optics, to include Naval binoculars, broad arrow binoculars and a Telescope M70 Military optics, to include a pair of Barr and Stroud Naval type 7x50 binoculars with broad arrow marks in wood case, also another pair of broad arrow marked Ross London stereo Prism 6 power binoculars and a Telescope M70 dated 1943 probably from a Sherman tank. The M70 measures 57cm long.The Barr and Stoud binoculars have some fungus growth or loose particles that can be seen on the inside of each lens mainly around the edges when looking through them. The lenses are free from scratches. The yellow filters work correctly and each lens will focus. There is a fair amount of wear that can be seen to the outside casing. This includes chipping and losses to the black paint, wear to the edges of the tubes, signs of the screw heads being worked and the slots being chewed. There is a chip to one of the covers on the central spine see image 8 online towards the end of the binoculars as well as a chip above the word Barr. The M70 scope shows a reasonably clear picture however the lenses are dusty on the inside and these particles can be seen when sighting through the scope. There is a surface scratch to each lens. The steel casing has some surface bubbling and corrosion. The Ross binoculars show clear pictures however there are minor dust particles on the inside and these particles can be seen when sighting through them the black finish to the casing is quite worn and there are some very small surface dents to the brass. The leather hinge and strap of the case is perishing.
