WW2 British Army Tabby Infra-Red Night Vision Binoculars, good set retaining much of the original blackened finish. Lens plate is stamped “ZA 23001 DD 35”. Complete with the webbing head strap and cables. Originally designed to be issued to the British Special Forces but due to the weight they were not suitable for combat, so most were then issued to armoured crews.

A fine 18ct yellow gold and diamond solitaire ring, the 2.27ct old brilliant cut diamond of fine clarity, I/VVS1, over tapered shoulders, size N.* Condition: This ring is in very good condition overall. The stone itself is in fine condition and exceptionally clean. It is nice and lively. There is just one minute flaw at the girdle - it's appears to be a miniscule frit to the edge of the girdle. It is absolutely minute and certainly cannot be seen with the naked eye - only through a 10x lens or felt very carefully with the tip of a fingernail. The setting and shank are in very good condition, with just minor scratching from wear. There are no sizing marks and it is hallmarked '18CT'.
A 6.5ct cushion cut loose tanzanite stone, with deep violet blue colour and accompanied by an International Gemological Institute certificate.* Condition: Sealed inside the capsule. There are a number of miniscule frits (approx. 10) visible to the facet edges to the table and girdle, when viewed through a 10x lens.
A 17.21ct loose tanzanite stone, the stone itself a cushion cut, in a vibrant and deep blue with excellent depth of colour. Accompanied by full International Gemological Institute certificate.* Condition: 15 x 12.5 x 10mm. There are no inclusions visible at all with a lens. There are two minute frits to the edge of the table. Lovely stone.
A 3.42ct cushion mixed cut tanzanite, accompanied by a certificate from the Canadian Gemological & Jewellery Laboratories.* Condition: 10.25 x 8 x 4mm. The stone has been cut slightly deeper at one end than the other – see photos. There are no inclusions visible with a 10x lens. There are two minute frits to the centre cut to the underside.
An 18ct yellow gold and diamond four stone ring, made by N. St. J. Paint & Son, Guernsey, the four brilliant cut diamonds totalling approx. 1.5ct, of very good clarity and colour, ring size M½.* Condition: This ring is in very good condition overall. The stones are in VG condition, with no chips or scratches - they're nice and white (G-H) and are VS1 - clean with just a few tiny inclusions and one with a tiny carbon spot, which are only visible through a 10x lens and are all towards the edges of the stones. Nice and lively overall. The setting and shank are in good condition with just minor wear as would be expected and a few small but deeper scratches/nicks to the gold at the outside bottom of the shank. Claws are all secure. Clear hallmarks.

Tench, London, circa 1870The bifurcated tube of Wenham type with rack and pinion coarse and fine micrometer screw focus adjustment above twin nosepiece objective mount and rectangular stage with X and Y screw positioning assembly, the underside with sub-stage condenser with rotating disc pierced with apertures of varying diameter and pivoted plano-concave mirror beneath, the rectangular limb hinged behind the stage between shaped plate uprights over a Y-shaped platform foot signed M. P. TENCH, 135 FLEET STREET, LONDON to the rear surface, minimum height with eyepiece lenses removed 40cm (15.75ins); in a pine box with four assorted objective lenses in canisters by various makers, four eyepiece lenses, frog plate, live box, forceps and a bullseye light condenser lens on adjustable brass stand with heavy disc foot, the box 46cm (18ins) high; with two boxes of microscope slides, the first pine containing twelve trays of six mainly professionally prepared slides of fauna and flora, 20.5cm (8ins) wide; the second card containing a smaller quantity of mainly unprepared slide panels, 21.5cm (8.5ins) wide, (3). M.P. Tench appears not to be recorded in the usual sources which would suggest that he was a retailer of instruments rather than a maker. The current lot however bears a strong resemblance to Andrew Rossa No. 2 binocular microscope as illustrated in his 1870 catalogue hence was probably supplied by him for retail by Tench.
