Lot 424

An early 20th century diamond ring, the old cushion cut diamond approximately 1.9 carats, graded as approximately VS clarity and F/G colour, in six double claw setting above a diamond set double scroll with old cut diamond beneath, approximately 0.10 carats, all set in white to a plain white shank, unmarked, 4.1g gross. finger size L CONDITION REPORT: Lot 424 - Diamond measurements: Width 6.7mm, Length 8.2mm, Depth 4.37mm. The old cut stone has a culet. The girdle varies in size from knife edge to thin along the longer sides. Two of the corners have chips underneath them. There are several nibbles to the shorter sides along the girdle. I have examined the stone under a daylight lamp using a 10 x lens and cannot see any inclusions. However I have graded the stone as VS as it is in a setting and I am unable to see under the claws. I have graded the stone's colour using grading stones. However due to fact that the stone is in a setting, that there is dirt that I am unable to remove from under the claw settings that the stone may draw colour from and that the stone is a different cut to the grading stones I would like to stress that the colour grading is very approximately F/G. The ring was consigned with a number of other jewellery items that are included in the sale and came from a deceased estate.
