A novelty Edwardian gadget stick with telescope set to the handle, faux crocodile cover and tapering wooden shaft, length 89.5cm. CONDITION REPORT: Thread does not 'catch' on cap when out in telescope position leaving the main section loose, general surface wear, small chips to large end lens.
An 18th century card, simulated shagreen and horn three-draw unnamed telescope, with twin end screw caps, length 35cm. CONDITION REPORT: Twist action and not slide. We cannot get it to focus. No visible cracks but very dirty so cannot say for sure. The horn generally chipped, hole in barrel near objective lens, heavy wear and discolouration throughout, possible damp, action stiff, slide covers lock appears to be original but cannot say for sure.
F WATKINS OF CHARING CROSS LONDON; a late 18th century single-draw telescope, with decagonal mahogany barrel and brass end caps, length 66cm. CONDITION REPORT: Image quite clear but not tested at distance. Objective lens cover looks original and eyepiece covers a replacement. Doesn't focus when looked through without adjusting anything. There are some rough areas to objective lens which are probably concentrated scratches rather than cracks. Eyepiece lens appears much cleaner, possibly replaced? Crack to barrel 18cm long. Chip near objective lens end, numerous splits to eyepiece and scuffs and scrapes throughout. Diameter of objective lens 25mm.
DOLLAND OF LONDON; a 2.75" single-draw brass telescope with wooden barrel, length 68cm. CONDITION REPORT: Image is clear but upside down. Lens covers appear original - see pictures. Lenses do not appear to be cracked, objective lens with large scratch as seen in the pictures. They focus with inverted image. Minor cracks/splits in numerous places with wear and tear throughout.
W WATSON & SONS LTD OF LONDON; a military issue 2" brass two-draw telescope inscribed 'Tel. Sig, Mk.III', and 'G.S.W. Watson & Sons Ltd, London, 1915, 5797', also stamped with broad arrows mark and with stitched leather barrel and protective end cap, and with spare lens to a leather cap attached to the strap, length 29.5cm.
