An early George III mahogany-framed library armchair with upholstered arched rectangular back padded arms with fluted downswept supports carved with scallop shells and acanthus, and on four tapering square legs carved with scallop shells above foliate paterae and bellflower chains, on stepped square feet with brass castors, restorations. *This armchair (especially the legs) closely resembles a parcel-gilt mahogany example designed by William Kent for Rousham Park, Oxfordshire, circa 1738

HOLDING, Louisa Frances (artist). An album containing 16pp. of original watercolours and a pencil sketch. [N.p.: n.d. but circa 1860.] Oblong folio (176 x 268mm.) Depicting butterflies, shells, insects and still life studies, some titled in pencil. (Occasional spotting.) Contemporary red morocco titled in gilt on the upper cover ‘Sketch Book’, g.e. (scuffed and soiled). – And another earlier album containing original works and ink inscriptions (2).

A George II Scottish silver shaped circular small salver by James Ker, Edinburgh 1745, assay master Hugh Gordon, with a band engraved with flowers and scrolls, the raised border with shells and foliage, on four scroll and pad feet, engraved with a crest and a motto 'Modice Augetur Modicum', 21.5cm (8.5in) diameter, 403g (12.75 oz). The crest and motto are recorded for WILLIAMSON of Hutchinfield, Scotland and were recorded for that name in 1672
A FINELY CARVED IVORY-MOUNTED DAGGER, CIRCA 1880, PROBABLY DIEPPE, with curved double- edged blade of flattened-hexagonal section, ivory hilt comprising pierced S-shaped cross-guard and cylindrical grip each carved in high relief with well detailed scrolling tendrils, the pommel carved with a portrait head, perhaps Francis I, in its scabbard decorated with a stag and three hounds inhabiting foliage en suite with the hilt, the locket decorated with further hounds and sea shells, hound's mask basal terminal, fluted on the reverse, and fitted with ivory rings for suspension (small age cracks), 32.5cm; 12 7/8in
An early 19th century mahogany longcase clock the arched painted dial signed 'Jn James Egham', with painted Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds and date dial, painted gold shells to spandrels, Strike/Silent to arch, eight day movement striking on a bell, the case with brass eagle and ball finials to the arched pediment, above an arched glazed door flanked by fluted columns, the trunk with an arched door, on a stepped plinth, 89.25in. (227cm.) high.
A fine pair of silver mounted flintlock holster pistols circa 1750, with flower-head engraved silver trigger-guard and inlaid plant on a column, hallmarked London 1754, maker JA, the locks signed Griffin (Benjamin Griffin) within a foliate ribbon, walnut stocks with scallop shell carved in relief, the spurred cast pommels chased with scallop shells and grotesque human masks, the proof marked 10in (25.5cm) round steel barrels engraved Bond Street, London, silver tipped wooden ramrods, the silver escutcheons engraved with pineapples, scallop shell and wings, contained in a later fitted mahogany case with some accessories, total length 15.5in (39.5cm). * Provenance - Christies Fine Antique Arms, 16th June 1976.
