A lovely Moche I bottle from the Loma Negra area of Peru, ca. 50 BC - 100 AD. It is 11 in. high and features a jaguar emerging from a cave at the base of the Sacred Mountains. A pair of large snails detailed with intricate incising are wrapped around the feline, with shells prominently protruding. Highly burnished, good mineral deposits. (MO2421)
