A late 19th century brooch designed as a hand holding two sea shells, each mounted with an imitation pearl and with a flower to the side, a marcasite set double clip brooch, two further marcasite set brooches, five brooches having cat motifs, an oval brooch mounted with a portrait miniature of an Eastern figure (a.f), and two further brooches, (12).
6th millennium BC-19th century AD. A large quantity of finds from Aylsham comprising: Neolithic flint tools (scrapers, spalls, flakes), a borer and blades; Bronze Age pottery sherd and spearhead fragment; Romano-British pottery sherds, oyster shells, a bronze nail and two bronze coins; Post-Medieval stoneware fragments and a musket ball. 1.8 kg total, flint borer: 92mm (3 3/4"). The Chris Rudd collection, Norfolk, UK; formed since the 1970s; collection number SA25; finds mostly from Chris Rudd's grounds in Aylsham, Norfolk, UK. Chris Rudd has collected ancient coins and antiquities since the 1940s. As an amateur archaeologist he found many himself at Badbury Rings, Dorset, 1952-53. He also dug at Hod Hill with Professor Sir Ian Richmond and at Wroxeter with Dame Kathleen Kenyon and Dr Graham Webster. Today he is best known as a Celtic coin dealer. His catalogues have been described as ‘an important research source’ by Professor Sir Barry Cunliffe and ‘treasure houses of delight’ by Dr Anne Ross. Coins and artefacts associated with Chris Rudd – as a collector, dealer and valuer – can be seen in The British Museum and other museums. This collection was formed since the 1970s. A possibly Swansea pottery square stand and conical cover, decorated all over with hand painted flowers and with stamped mark to the underside, together with a Chamberlains Worcester style porcelain bowl of shells, 10cm diameter, a Continental faience desk stand, and two small cups in the form of flowers on circular spreading base, 7.5cm tall (5)

WW1 Trench Art made by German Prisoner of War of Queens Regiment Interest, two brass shells, engraved with regimental badge of the Queens West Surrey regiment with the reverses having engraved “MADE BY GERMAN PRISONER”. Both shells being 1915 German examples marked to the bases. Accompanied by two later brass shells engraved with images of boats mounted onto wooden bases and a small wooden made ashtray with copper dish inked to the bottom in permanent marker “”MADE BY GERMAN POW 1944”.
