A large Continental porcelain figure group and stand late 19th/early 20th century modelled as a rocky outcrop surmounted by a maiden seated in a carriage attended by putti with floral wreaths and baskets of flowers, below two other maidens each seated beside a swan with floral wreaths, the reverse with two putti playing with birds, the naturalistic oval base applied with flowers, raised on an oval-shaped stand moulded with shells and scrolls heightened with gilding and pink and turquoise enamel and applied with flowers gilt-painted crossed swords marks 56cm., 22in. typical minor losses and damage (2)

A good Swansea plate circa 1815-17 possibly by William Billingsley, with a central gilt sunburst medallion, the border painted with five still-life panels of shells and coral inside octagonal gilt frames, divided by gilt urns and foliate garlands remains of a gilt script mark 21cm., 8.25;in. An example with similar panels of shell painting ascribed to Billingsley is illustrated by W.D. John, William Billingsley, Ill.63, bottom right.

In the footnote to this lot they note that John Toulouse was possibly responsible for the model as the short period of production coincides with the time he was at the factory.
A Derby sauceboat circa 1760 moulded with overlapping leaves reserved with four panels edged with rococo scrolls heightened with turquoise enamel, those on each side painted with a bird perched on a branch, those beneath the spout and handle painted with insects, beneath a chocolate brown rim, 20.5cm., 8in.; together with a Worcester reeded bowl, cover and stand, circa 1775-80, gilt with a band of stylised shells above a turquoise band beneath a border of gilt scrolls beneath a turquoise band, the cover with floral finial stand 17.8cm., 7in. A 17th century Italian majolica dessert dish, the centre decorated with a putto, later drilled with a cork fixed into it, the panelled border with a shaped edge decorated foliage, in blue, green and yellow to an ochre ground, the reverse moulded with scallop shells, on a spreading foot. 10.75in. (27.5cm.) diameter.
A fine pair of 22 bore silver mounted flintlock holster pistols, by Grice, London, 1783, 14½” overall, half octagonal Spanish type barrels 8¾” with Tower private proofs, silver spider fore sights, gold touch holes, and engraved “Grice, London” in script, flat stepped locks with safety bolts, swan neck cocks and large rollers on frizzen springs, the plates engraved with flowers and “Grice” in scroll, walnut fullstocks profusely inlaid with silver wire scrolls and shells around barrel tangs, fine quality silver mounts including engraved long spur butt caps, trigger guards and escutcheons chiselled and engraved with rocailles, openwork floral sideplates and plain ramrod pipes, the butt caps and trigger guards bearing Birmingham hall marks for 1783, and maker’s mark of Charles Freeth, horn tipped whalebone ramrods with steel worms. A pair of giant clam shells of large proportions, the shells approximately 30cm high, 93cm wide Provenance: These were purchased a number of years ago by Belinda Gentle and David Lawrence at a provincial auctioneers. The auctioneer had known them to stand in the porch of a farmhouse on the Devon/Somerset border for at least thirty years previous to this, and he had understood that they had in fact been there much longer, indicating that they are in excess of one hundred years old.
