A shell decorated Valentine, early 20th CenturyThe octagonal shaped Valentine decorated with shells, verso printed inscription for the one I love, German Ironstone jug decorated with figures in a landscape, cased pair of fish servers, pair of Spanish swords, various cutlery and medical instruments and a silver plated tray etc.
A dark chalcedony desert rose with quartz druse, fluted carving to the edge and underside, and revealing its internal structure on underside, and accompanied by two unusual mollusc shells. See Bonewitz, Dr. Ronald Louis, Rocks & Minerals, 2008, p.226. 20 grams total, 15-49mm (3/4 - 2). Property of a London gentleman; acquired from a major Mayfair gallery; acquired on the London art market before 2000. [3, No Reserve]. Extremely fine condition.
dating: 19th Century provenance: Turkey, Nice, smooth, two-stage, 13 mm cal. barrel, octagonal and round, richly inlaid with silver floral motifs, traces of stamp. Lock signed 'FAIRFAX BRYSONS', with remains of small engravings (mechanical problems). Wooden stock (defects) richly adorned with numerous silver inlays, effigy stars, shells, musical instruments and one small shield, as well as thin spirals. Silver and brass butt-plate, with green stone in the center. Silver trigger guard with star stamps. Irrelevant ramrod. Long, silver barrel bracket, with stamps remains as well. length 45 cm.

A pair of Staffordshire pottery vases decorated peonies and butterflies on a black ground, with ram's head handles and two other items including an Indian Tree style bulbous pot pourri and cover and a 19th century Japanese cloisonne on porcelain ginger jar and cover with gilt lacquer to interior, decorated with fish, crab, shrimp, shells etc. (damage and repairs)
(Not silver as previously stated.) A pair of 19th century continental white metal Rococo style seven light candelabrum, standing on elaborate circular base with four scrolling feet and the base with roses, scrollwork and other foliage, rising to shafts decorated with putti and classical maiden frolicking amongst acanthus leaves, shell work and other foliate designs. The top with six twisting branches and a single central light. Both candelabrum have two heraldic shields or coats of arms/armorials to the bases depicting shells and flowers on one shield and a hammer over dots and roses on the other. Both shields are surmounted by a crown. H=72, W=40cm.
[NAVAL INTEREST]. A TRENCH ART PRESENTATION TABLE GONG comprising an inverted shell case with a cut, flared rim, suspended between two inert shells, the whole set to an oak base, with a brass-handled gavel on stand, bearing an engraved plaque 'Mrs H. Norton / from Officers & Ships Company / H.M.S. Dublin / Aug. 1916', overall 54.5cm high, 45.5cm wide. Note: H.M.S. Dublin was a Town-class light cruiser built by William Beardmore and Co. at Dalmuir, near Glasgow, and launched in 1911. She supported the landing assault at Gallipoli in 1915 but later that year was damaged by a torpedo fired by an Austro-Hungarian submarine off the Albanian coast. After a refit she participated in the Battle of Jutland in 1916, attacking and sinking a destroyer alongside H.M.S. Southampton, but sustaining severe damage in the process. Three crew members were lost and twenty-seven wounded following thirteen hits from shells fired by the German fleet.
