A Georgian naval lieutenant's dress sword, c 1820, slender diamond section blade 26", etched with trophies and floral scrolls, nicely chiselled gilt stirrup hilt the hollow scalloped shell guards bearing crowned fouled anchors, the guard with vine leaves and shells, unusual crouching lion pommel, engraved backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip in its leather scabbard with gilt foliate engraved mounts, the hanging rings in the form of arched serpents, the locket bearing applied Neptune plaque on the front and engraved on the back "Odell Manufacturer 72 Burlington Arcade from Bond Strt" (the firm moved in 1818), the middle band with applied female figure and anchor plaque, the chape with applied foliage. A Large Bronzed Renaissance Revival Ornamental Shield of domed circular form. The centre cast in relief with a grimacing face mask roundel centring four allegorical scenic cartouches. The outer border decorated with mermaids, nereides and sea-horses interspersed with portrait heads in scallop shells, 24 ins (61 cms) in diameter.

The lavishly engraved centre of fanned shells and rococo style scrolls bordered by a gadrooned edge with crested corners above scroll knop feet and having two similarly ornamented handles. The tea service with blade knop finials, beaded & gadrooned borders and palmate scroll legs. 28 ins x 16½ ins (71 cms x 42 cms).

The padded arm rails having carved knop terminals above the serpentine fronted seat and cabriole legs carved at the hip with rococo style shells and terminating on scroll knop feet.

Royal Interest, Queen Adelaide. A set of twelve silver dinner plates. William Bateman for Rundell, Bridge & Co., London 1837, shaped circular, the gadroon rims interrupted by matted cartouches set with shells or rocaille, engraved below with the cipher for Queen Adelaide, undersides inscribed 'RUNDELL BRIDGE ET Co. AURIFICES REGINAE LONDINI' and later engraved 'H.B. AUG.9.1899' (12). 27cm diameter. Provenance: Christie's, London, 17th March 1999, lot 44. Probably Earl of Londesborough, Christie's, London, 18th May 1898, 'A Large Service of Plates and Dishes, &c., richly chased and weighing 10,000 Ounces, formerly the property of Queen Adelaide'. Adelaide of Saxe-Meiningen was Queen Consort to William IV. In the mid 1830's the King and Queen ordered a large silver dinner service, supplied over a couple of years by the Royal goldsmiths Rundell, Bridge & Co. Pieces were engraved with the King's cipher, the Queen's cipher, or both. Most of this huge service was dispersed.
A 19th century West African ivory and cast bronze oliphant, or war horn, the upper ivory section carved with four tribal figures, the finial carved with further figure seated upon a stool above a lozenge shaped pierced mouth piece, the cire-perdue cast base of waisted trumpet-form end cast with whorls and plaited cord decoration, the fabric-covered joint sewn with rows of cowrie shells. 10cm diameter (at base), 57cm high

A Loggerhead "Blonde" Turtle Shell, probably early 19th century, attractively marked, surface worn and patinated, 60cm long, 48cm wide (on the right side there is a partly "healed" concave section missing, almost certainly the result of a shark bite) See illustration. Blonde turtle shells are often mistaken as albino, but the paleness is due to the shell having had the skeats (thin membrane known as tortoiseshell) removed.
