Welsh. WW1 “War Diary of the late Capt C.J. Paterson Adjutant 1st Battalion 24th (South Wales Borderers) & Letter. A scarce original edition of the war diary of the 1st South Wales Borderers published in 1915 and covering the period 11th August 1914 to the 24th October 1914. With ink dedication to the inside cover. Slight age wear, good clean condition. .... Accompanied by a hand written letter sent by Captain Paterson, to his nephew dated 14th October 1914. This describes the battalion’s service in France and states” We sit in our trenches and the German bullets and shells over us every now and then”. GC (2 items) Captain C.J. Paterson MID on the 29th October was given orders from his Commanding Officer to pass on, he was wounded and died on the 1st November 1914
