Smoking Hand Crafted Compendium - individually hand crafted and in the form of a partial 1800's ships's deck. Made for a naval officer's mess, the opening top features a cannon, balls, taper, shells and matches. It opens to reveal several compartments containing tobacco, pipe cleaners, a Nimrod Commander pipe lighter and stylised pipe. Extremely unusual tobacciana.

A FINE QUALITY JAPANESE MEIJI PERIOD CARVED IVORY SHIBAYAMA & GOLD LACQUER TUSK VASE ON STAND, well decorated with scenes of Benzaiten (kannon) riding upon a phoenix / ho-ho bird amongst swirling clouds, the tusk section distinguished in high relief using carved inlays made up of sea-shells, horn, and gold lacquer, the lower section with carved and stained trees, the rim of the tusk section lined with a silver filigree carved band, signed within a red seal to read Masayoshi, the tusk itself 23.4cm x 11.5cm wide, overall 27.5cm x 15cm.
