A late Victorian silver boat shaped oval basket, the rim cast with scallop shells, flowers and scrolls flanked by a pair of scallop shell moulded scroll handles, the scale pierced sides decorated in relief with opposing cartouches flanked by lady and gallant musicians united by flower festoons and musical pendants, on pierced floral and scroll feet, London 1896 by Carrington & Co, length approx 30.5cm.

A First Period Worcester porcelain oval dessert dish, the centre decorated an urn strewn with foliage, the dark blue border with a gilt inner band of shells and bellflowers, the pierced raised trellis sides with gilt grapevines inside and applied daisy heads outside, flowerheads to the end rope twist handles (one restored). Blue crescent mark.

A Collection of Naga, Assam Tribal Dress, comprising two Abor basket weave helmets, one trimmed with animal fur (possibly bear) and set with boar`s tusks, an apron made from cowrie shells and red stained bristles backed by woven brown cloth, a pair of similarly made wristlets and pair of anklets, two collars of boar`s tusks and shells centred by cornelian type beads, and two necklaces made from elongated tubular shells and cornelian type beads.(11) These items are illustrated in the photograph albums in Lot 360
English School, mid 18th century Portrait of Samuel Hext, aged 50, his hair en queue, wearing a jabot and red jacket, inscribed "S Hext ATAT 50 1784", in feigned oval Oil on canvas, 61cm by 45cm Portrait of Marjorie Taylder, aged 53, wearing an elaborate ribbon tied lace headdress and similarly trimmed blue dress, inscribed "M Hext ATAT 53 1786", in feigned oval Both in gilt frames with shells at the angles Samuel Hext (b.1733, m. 1757 Majorie Taylder of Holland in Mabe, d. 4 September 1800). Marjorie Taylder (b. 30 March 1730, d. 25 October 1795 at Lostwithiel). One of the sons of Samuel and Majorie Hext was John Hext (b.15 Nov 1766) and who was presented with the silver hot water urn and the pair of neo-classical two-handled vases also included in this sale. John Hext is the great great great great grandfather of the present vendors.
A 19TH CENTURY NAUTILUS SHELL COMMEMORATING THE LAUNCH OF THE S.S. GREAT BRITAIN IN 1843 attributed to H. Wood, with scrimshaw-worked profile of the vessel and specifications incised either side, contained within an ebonised glass case with gilt presentation plaque dated 1863, overall size Ñ 12 1/2 x 10 1/2in. (32 x 26.5cm.) H. Wood specialised in producing worked nautilus shells, the more elaborate examples claim it was achieved with a penknife and that Queen Victoria had accepted examples. He seems only to have produced them for Brunel`s great ships, more commonly the Great Eastern.
A Caughley salad bowl or junket dish, circa 1780, the circular bowl moulded to the interior with three scallop shells, printed in underglaze blue with the Pine Cone pattern within a painted toothed internal border, the exterior printed with root vegetables, moths, a snail, underglaze blue C with serif, 25.5cm diameter See C & W P plate 167 for a similar piece, and page 142 for a discussion of the difference between Worcester and Caughley salad bowls. See CBE catalogue no. 79 for an almost identical piece. A similar lot was sold Bonhams London, 9th September 2009, lot 152.
A Caughley dolphin ewer creamboat, circa 1785, the body moulded with shells and entwined dolphins, the handle in the form of a lamprey, the body painted with floral sprigs within blue line borders and painted to the pouring lip with an insect, blue painted C with serif mark, bearing Caughley Bicentenary Exhibition catalogue label no. 49, 9.2cm long, 8.6cm high
A pair of mid 18th century cast silver candlesticks, maker`s mark only, J.W, probably that of James Warren of Dublin, circa 1755, caryatid form, the elongated drip pans with three masks wear hats and scroll decoration, urn shaped capitals, on a shaped triangular scroll base with masks, shells and foliate decoration, crested, height 28.9cm, approx. weight 50oz ** Provenance: Bonhams, Knightsbridge, Fine Silver Sale, 11th March 1997, lot 269. The three crests are probably unrelated and sequential. The shield is possibly an unidentified Irish shield of arms of the first owner. The cherub`s face and wings is the crest of the Irish families Caloner, Gayer, Fannon, Porter and also recorder for Auld, Courtney, Scot, Waller and Wood. The third crest is unidentified.
A George II Irish silver salver, by Matthew West, Dublin 1736, circular form, the moulded border with masks, shells and scroll motifs, the centre engraved with an armorial, on four heavy scroll and pad feet, scratch weight to underside 74=10, diameter 39.2cm, approx. weight 72oz. ** Provenance: Bonhams, Knightsbridge, Fine Silver Sale, 11th March 1997, lot 270. The arms are those of Carr of Ireland or Dawes of Salisbury impaling those of a continental family. The arms of CARR of Dublin impaling GIFFARD quartering (?) REDMOND
