A garniture of three Spode match pots circa 1821-23 of shape, each pot applied with three bands of beaded white pearls, decorated with panels of brightly painted shells and coral, the reverses gilded with formal grotesque motifs including birds and baskets, painted 'Spode' in iron red and marked with pattern number 3236, 11.5cm high and 16cm high (3) Provenance: With H.Blairman, purchased in May 1928 for £27.10s. Exhibited: Spode-Copeland 1765-1965, Frankfurt 1965, catalogue fig.37, also Spode Bicentenary Exhibition 1970, no.290. Illustrated by Leonard Whiter, Spode (1970), pl.279. A George II Silver Mazarine, Paul de Lamerie, London 1745, oval, pierced and engraved with shells and scrolls, the centre coat of arms and motto scroll, inscribed No1 and scratch weight 27=9 to underside, 44.5cm wide, 27oz 6dwt The arms are those of Duncombe impaling Campbell, probably for Octavius Duncombe (1817-1879) and his wife Lady Caroline Campbell, who were married in 1842. Provenance: Possibly Christie's, Myles Place Salisbury, 25-26 Oct 1992, Lot 589 For a cup and cover, by de Lamerie, bearing the same arms see Christie's London, Centuries of Style, 10 June 2011, Lot 293 . Marks struck to underside, all with some wear, the date letter partially obscured. Some splits between the tips of the shell design and its surround on left hand side. One further small split in the same place on the shell at the other end. Some small bruises and undulation around rim. The engraved arms are later.
A FINE CASED GERMAN SMALL-SWORD WITH SILVER-GILT HILT AND PAINTED PORCELAIN GRIP, THIRD QUARTER OF THE 18TH CENTURY with tapering blade of flattened-hexagonal section, etched and gilt with trophies of arms and scrolls on a blued panel over the forte on each face, silver hilt cast and chased in low relief against a finely punched and gilt ground (slightly loose, very small losses), comprising outer ring-guard decorated with a bouquet of flowers within a rococo frame, short quillon with globular terminal and knuckle-guard each decorated with scrolls and shells, ovoid pommel decorated with flowers en suite with the guard, porcelain grip painted with differing military scenes top and bottom, the former involving a cavalry engagement and the latter an artillery encampment, a writhen silver collar top and bottom, in its silver-mounted wooden scabbard encased in green velvet, with silver lock (belt-hook and middle-band missing) and chape each decorated en suite with the hilt, in its original leather-covered case, the interior lined in green and white silk (small areas of wear) and the outside covered in leather, tooled and gilt with a coat-of-arms and secured by two hook and eye catches 72.8 cm; 28 ¾ in blade A sword with a gilt-brass hilt of related form and porcelain grip is preserved in the Cleveland Museum of Art (acc. No. 1916.1501).
A RARE .550 CALIBRE D.B. JACOB'S PATENT PERCUSSION RIFLE AND BAYONET, BY SWINBURN & SON, BIRMINGHAM, NO. 381, DATED 1861 with rebrowned barrels each rifled with four deep grooves, fitted with folding leaf back-sight of three leaves and adjustable long-range sight (restored), numbered breeches, long slender tang, signed and dated back-action locks stamped 'Patent' (worn), figured walnut half-stock stamped '548' on the left of the butt, case-hardened iron mounts comprising butt-plate, trigger-guard with chequered spur, and hinged circular patch-box cover engraved 'Jacob's Rifles', a single barrel band fitted with sling swivel, rear sling loop on the trigger-guard, and original ramrod (the iron parts refinished), the sword bayonet with fullered blade (areas of pitting), regulation hilt pierced with scrollwork on the front and with an aperture for the muzzles on the reverse, pommel stamped '541' and with a spring-catch, and chequered leather grips 60.7 cm; 24 in barrels (2) Major John Jacob, Commander of the Scinde Irregular Horse, invented his rifle following a series of extensive trials on a specially designed range in Jacobabad. Prior to this he and his fellow officers had achieved some spectacular results with explosive shells blowing up ammunition carts at long ranges. See Blackmore 1961, pp. 202-204, pl. 67; and Roads 1964, p. 43, pls. 45-47.
A matched pair of George III cast silver candlesticks, by William Cafe, London 1767, and maker's mark mis-struck, London 1776, the detachable shaped square sconces with shells at the angles, the reel shaped capitals later engraved T, the multi knop stems and shaped square bases with shells at the angles, engraved with a crest, 24.5cm (9 3/4in) high, 1338g (43 oz) The crest could be for THOMSON, TOSE or TOSH, all of Scotland.

WW1 British “B” Pattern Brodie Steel Helmet, being the shell re-painted at some point, complete with its original liner system with pink stamp underneath the oilskin. Brown leather chinstrap fitted, however this has probably been replaced from another helmet. Comes with a ined label indicating its history; Accompanied by two WW1 British relic helmet shells recovered from WW1 battle fields with labels detailing their history. (3 items)
Imperial German Officers Tunic Shoulder Board Thuringen Infantrie Regt 95, fine example of a majors shoulder board with gilt metal cipher to the centre. Accompanied by a fine quality field grey tunic shoulder board for 23rd Foot Artillery with crossed shells above chain stitched “23”. Both uniform removed. (2 items)
