BRITISH TOKENS, 18th Century Tokens, England, Middlesex, Ratley (dealer in pictures and curiosities), Dukes Court, St Martins, Copper Halfpenny, 1795, obv yawning man holding picture, customer examining it, rev shells on shore, masted ship in full sail at sea (DH 465). About extremely fine and toned, small flaw in the obverse field, rare.
Great War Royal Navy HMS Triumph Photograph Album of Gallipoli Interest, the album starts with an image of the ship at sea. A number of images on the first few pages show damage to the ship from Turkish shells during the bombardment of the Dardanelles. Album continues and shows officers and men of the ship. Many of the men are identified. One good image identified of Lt Commander Gipps in khaki landing party uniform. Album then has images of Japanese naval ships and images taken in the far east (Japan / China). Images are all housed in a period album. Some pages have later sticker information added. (65 images) ** HMS Triumph was initially assigned to the Home Fleet and Channel Fleets before being transferred to the Mediterranean Fleet in 1909. The ship briefly re-joined Home Fleet in 1912 before she was transferred abroad to the China Station in 1913. HMS Triumph participated in the hunt for the German East Asia Squadron of Maximilian Graf von Spee and in the campaign against the German colony at Tsingtao, China. The ship was transferred to the Mediterranean in early 1915 to participate in the Dardanelles Campaign against the Ottoman Empire. She was torpedoed and sunk off Gaba Tepe by the German submarine U-21 on 25 May 1915.
A George II silver salver, by Robert Abercromby, London 1739, circular form, shell, scroll and lion mask border, the centre with chased shells, scrolls, fish scales and foliate decoration, with an armorial within foliate mantling, on three lion paw feet, diameter 28cm, approx. weight 25oz. The arms are those of Dickinson of Kings Weston, Somerset impaling Pink/Pinck of Oxford
A pair of Victorian cast silver candlesticks, by Richard Sibley, London 1839, in the Rococo manner, possibly after a pair by Ayme Videau, scroll baluster stems with masks, detachable scroll and shell drip pans, on raised shaped circular bases with shells, bunches of grapes, masks, and mounted with a snake, lizard and mythical dolphin, engraved with two crests, height 25.5cm, approx. weight 73oz. Plus a Trix LMS bogie passenger coach and 7 freight wagons plus loose and packeted points and parts etc. Also in lot a Mettoy Mechanical Streamlined Train with track, boxed. QGC-VGC some age wear to boxes and items.
A Carpet Saddle Bag woven with a small rose quadriform medallion to the centre surrounded by dark inky blue scrolls in a banded border on a Burgundy ground. An embroidered Quran cover inset with mirrored discs, 8¼ ins x 5½ ins (211 cms x 13 cms). A carpet runner/pelmet edged in cowry shells and tassels; the carpet panel 10 ins (26 cms) deep, 70 ins (178 cms) in length.
A Charming 19th Century Watercolour Sketch with white body colour highlights: Head & Shoulders Portrait of a young woman wearing spectacles with a fur trimmed black dress, 6¾ ins x 5¼ ins (17 cms x 13.4 cms). In a moulded Victorian gilt frame with scallop shells mounted in each corners and a crown raised on a tasseled cushion to the top, printed paper frame makers label 'L.A. Britten' on verso. 13½ ins x 9¼ (34 cms x 24 cms).

A gold and blue enameled necklace, the front with three vary coloured stone pendant rings, with a case, a red paste set necklace, a slide action pencil with a seal terminal fitted to a neckchain, a heart shaped pendant, a mother of pearl panel link bracelet, decorated with figures, probably Persian, three cameo brooches, three lava cameo links from a bracelet and a pair of gilt metal and imitation pearl earclips, designed as scallop shells.
A good quality Victorian silver plated table/centrepiece, the trefoil base raised on three pierced and scrolling embossed supports, accommodating three outward facing seated swans with wings outstretched, seated upon scrolling foliate bases, flanking a fluting column set below a large circular border with pierced sides and beaded border, supported by three scrolling foliate branches, 25 cm tall approx together with a circular drinks tray with raised, pierced gallery sides and embossed foliate decoration to the centre, two further smaller oval shaped trays, one also with pierced sides together with a short pair of candlesticks in the form of stylised dolphins perched upon scallop shells, the candle chamber supported by their tales
Born (Ignaz Edler Von) - Testacea Musei Caesarei Vindobonensis..., engraved vignette title and numerous head- and tail-pieces, 18 folding engraved plates of shells by Schtz or J. Adam after Fr. Fuxeder, 36 illustrations of shells, all engraved by Schtz, C. Conti and others, light dampstaining, ink ownership inscription and bookplate of Katherine H. van Winkle Palmer to front free endpaper and front pastedown respetively, later half calf, red morocco label to spine, joints cracked and extremities worn, [Nissen ZBI 470], folio, Vienna, J.P. Kraus, 1780. One of the most handsome of all conchological works. The work was commissioned by Empress Marie-Therese in order to record and codify her natural history collection in Vienna. In 1778 Born published a descriptive catalogue of the collection; the present work, published two years later is on a much larger scale than the first work and included the fine coloured plates. The collection has remained in Vienna and is now in the Natural History Museum.
