An early 17th century Spanish rapier, slender diamond section blade 39”, the fullers stamped on one side “XXX EN X TOLEDO XXX” and “anchor” mark, the other side illegible, the hilt with semi cup guard chiselled with shells and scrolls and with looped bars, the 12¼” quillons and knuckleguard with spiral ends, the bun shaped pommel with roped central ridge, the grip bound with chain link and twisted iron wire and ribbons. Together with a rectangular silk panel embroidered in coloured silks in chain stitch with flowers, possibly Uzbekistan, 20th century, 43in. 109cm. x 14in., 36cm. (2)
Indian raffia head piece, with plait in raffia and silk and cotton embroidered panel and a larger neck panel in cotton with wool and silk embroidery and both panels bordered with shells. Probably north India, 20th century, the circular headpiece 5in 13cm. dia, the larger panel 11in. x 7in. 28cm. x 8cm. The small circular headpiece intended to sit on top of a head shawl to aid women carrying heavy weights. And an Indian double sided silk embroidered purse, with shisha work, the side fringe embellished with blue beads, probably Gujerat 20th century, 7in. x 5½in. 18cm. x 14cm. (2)
