Cutmore, St. Annes Lane, City, a longcase regulator:, the eight-day duration timepiece movement having a dead-beat escapement and maintaining power, with the pendulum crutch attached to the backboard, the twelve-inch round silvered dial engraved with a typical regulator layout with seconds to the outer aspect and subsidiary hour and minute dials to the centre and engraved with the maker`s name J. Cutmore, St. Annes Lane, City, the oak case with angular canted corners and gothic carved decoration to the base, trunk and hood, the trunk inset with a thermometer above which sits a mercury barometer with bone scales with twin vernier gauges, set aslant and signed J. Hicks, 8, 9 & 10, Hatton Gardens, London, height: 213cm. * Biography John Cutmore is recorded as working in St. Annes, London from before 1851 until circa 1863.

An Elizabeth II Captain’s uniform of The Blues and Royals (Royal Horse Guards and Royal Dragoons), comprising silver plated helmet, with gilt peak binding, ear to ear wreath, graduated link leather backed chinchain (slightly AF) and ear rosettes of regimental pattern, top mount with silver plated spike, scarlet yak hair plume with gilt rosette, gilt helmet plate with red and blue enamelled centre on silver plated cut star, buff leather lining, (few very small dents to skull); blue tunic with scarlet facings and edging, heavily gilt embroidered collar and cuffs, gilt shoulder cords and aiguilette with tags; gilt lace shoulder belt with scarlet morocco backing, central stripe and flask cord, ornamental gilt buckle, tip and slide, black plastic panels with gilt mounts and Royal Arms flap badge; plated cuirass, brass edge binding and studs, shoulder scales with ornamental studs and lion’s head finials, red leather lining with crimson velvet edging; pair buff leather breeches; pair black leather jack boots, nickel plated spurs with buckles and chains. A late 19th century model suit of South German, late Gothic armour, c 1480-1500, 36” high, mounted on a square wooden plinth complete with sword. The hinged sallet (helmet) with viewing slit, it has a carved wood human head inside with painted face (similar to those found in the Tower of London). The suit is named a “Kuriss”. The arm and leg defences are all articulated; gauntlets have pointed scales to fingers in keeping with the style of armour; long bizaare pointed shoes (worn only when mounted on horse), the hand and half sword is well formed with down drooping quillon, wooden grip and octagonal shaped pommel; the armour is mounted on a red cloth stuffed body. Good Condition. Plate 30 Note: The Kuriss is modelled on the style of armour owned by The Archduke Sigmund (1427-96) Lord of the Tyrol, part of the Hapsburg Empire. The original armour was given to him by his nephew Maximilian I, probably worn by him when he was younger.
