A Chinese cast bronze model of a dragon fish, probably 18th century, the body with relief moulded scales and fins, with open mouth showing teeth and with inset silver coloured metal eyes, all upon a cast bronze stand modelled as spuming waves, height 27.5 cm, width approximately 23 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The dragon fish has lots of metal polish residue between the scales. There is a hard sandy coloured residue to the top of its head. There is a 3 cm section of wave missing to the foot of the base. Other than that there appears to be no further losses. The catalogue date states it is probably 18th century but it is difficult to determine and may actually be later.
Five Japanese quatreform shaped dishes, early 20th century, with landscape decoration with pine and prunus on rocky outcrops, a pagoda in the distance all between a scrolling border, Nihon seal mark to the underside, diameter 16.3 cm and a pair of petal shaped bowls, 19th/20th century, interior decorated with a stylised dragon amongst clouds, framed by a peach shaped panels of Lingzhi and scales, all with a chocolate brown rim, Nihon seal mark to the underside, diameter 15.5 cm (7).
