An Art Deco unheated sapphire and diamond ring,with an oval mixed cut sapphire, estimated as approximately 13.25ct, four claw set to a scalloped collet. A pierced head, grain set with a row of graduated old eight cut diamonds, with an outer row of old eight cut diamonds, milligrain set in collets with an open circular frame. Pierced fish scales, to shoulders milligrain set with chevrons of old eight cut diamonds, and foliate engraving to a plain shank. Tested as platinum and 9ct gold. Head 18.50mm wide, 9.92g.Finger size I-I½Accompanied by a report from The Gem And Pearl Laboratory date 15th October 2021 No 20582 stating that no evidence of heat treatment was observed. Origin opinion Sri Lanka.Condition report: Later half shank and claws seem to have been repaired with 9ct.A surface reaching inclusion to the sapphire and table and crown facet edge wear.Noticeable scratches and marks. Diamonds bright and lively.Gemstone bright and lively.One claw not down on the sapphire, but raised. Will require attention prior to being worn.The estimated weight of the sapphire is based on the minimum dimensions included in the laboratory report but the weight could be between 13.50ct and 13.95ct depending on the formula used.
Thirteen oval agate intaglios,each one depicting a standing female figure in 19th century costume, holding scales, a cornucopia, a staff, foliage, or with a child. 27.28 x 14.30mm to 11.05 x 7.58mm (13)Provenance: Iconastas, Piccadilly Arcade, St. James's, London, W1Condition report: Small chips and nibbles to the edge of the smallest intaglio. No obvious faults or damage to the others. Depths vary.
An interesting early 20th century Negretti and Zambra desk thermometer, the ivory scale marked with both fahrenheit and also reaumur scales, contained in black Morocco leather covered case. 13.5 cm high. CONDITION REPORT: The case is in generally good condition and has aged appropriately. The thermometer scale has some slight fading to the numbering and on the scale. The thermometer works and it appears fully functional. There is some minor staining and bending to the inner lining of the case but overall it is in good condition commensurate with age and use.
