Nicholson (20th Century) (2) Marks and scratches to the frames of both, some staining to the reverse of watercolour. no visible foxing to either.

An Early 18th Century Ebonised Fruitwood and Brass Mounted Stick Barometer, unsigned, with two engraved silvered register scales, in ebonised tapered and part spiral reeded case with three brass finials to hood, and barrel shaped cistern and brass adjustment knob, 37.25ins high Provenance: Ben Wright Exceptional Clocks, Crew House, 15 Market Place, Tetbury, Gloucestershire, GL8 8DD - Purchased 18th January 2017Externally the item presents in condition commensurate with age and general usage. There is some historic refinishing in general. Numerous light marks and knocks which were apparent before the refinishing, it bears many minor scars of age. The glass is intact, the silvered dials are in good condition and are clear and crisp to read. The maximum/minimum sliders work correctly and the mercury rises and falls. However we cannot vouch for the correct level. Overall an honest example showing some patination of age. The barometer has attached to the upper back a drilled brass fitting. This presumably would attach to a bracket fixed to a wall - see images provided. -
