A set of cast brass butchers scales, with bulls head finial, on shaped base with ten (ex 12) weights, 121cm high CONDITION REPORT: The two smallest weights are lacking. The pans have a few small dents. General light age wear patina to the surface but overall fair. This is a replica set with no great age.
A 19th century oak and cast iron Jockey scales / sack scales by Young and Son Bear Street, wooden chair and plateau upper with cast iron roberval scale frame, 82cm W x 49cm D, with a selection of brass and cast iron weights including some examples by Young. Provenance: Formerly the property of the Earl of Alisa, Culzean Castle Ayrshire. Possibly ordered in the 19th century by one of the Earls for the castle. Originally sold at auction in Edinburgh it was later purchased by the current vendor at Great Western Auctions in 2011
A 19th Century mahogany medicine cabinet, the two doors to the front opening to reveal fitted compartment for glass medicine bottles, glass pestle and mortar and brass scales, the back sliding open to reveal four further bottle compartments, 22 cm x 26.5 cm CONDITION REPORTS Various scratches, scuffs, marks, some small water marks etc throughout. One door with two significant cracks running through it and various white marks and could benefit with a bit of TLC. Opening to reveal twelve assorted glass bottles, not all probably original. Most stoppers jammed into the bottles and do not come free easily. Some stoppers with small chips. Bottom drawer with missing ivory handle and has extra drilled hole where presumably once a replaement handle stood. The smallest bottle in the bottom drawer with various losses to the collar. Some small chips again to the other three bottles in this drawer. Various general signs of sear and tear throughout.. Compartment to the reverse missing most of its bottles. One remains with a large chip to the collar and two smaller bottles. Locking mechanism for the back compartment is jammed and needs attention. Various general signs of wear and tear throughout. Sliding back door has various losses also.
Victorian oak display cabinet, profusely carved with feathers, scrolls and overlapping scales, carved busts and lion & ring masks to the side, columns flank the cabinet door with red, yellow and frosted leaded panels, heavily carved single drawer over cabinet base. 232cm high x 93cm at the widest point of the base and 100cm at the widest point of the pediment.
