^ Good Indian Sword Shamshir, early 19th century, curved single edge watered steel blade of Indian Qum pattern, iron crosspiece and hilt mounts extensively covered with gold damascened flowering foliage, 2 piece ivory grips carved in low relief with flowering foliage and scales, in its scabbard covered with black leather tooled with diagonal bands of lotus flowers. Good condition, well-executed later leather mouthpiece to scabbard. Blade 78cms.

Very Rare Sword Probably for an Officer of Horse Guards and Probably by John Bland, London c.1768-1788, pipe back blade with pronounced false edge, iron hilt comprising engraved bands of scales each with small engraved fan at the root, flattened recurved crosspiece applied with a brass crescent on the quillon block, down-turned pommel with iron cap. Overall 99.5cms, blade 85cms. Good condition, tip of one langet chipped. Note: A number of swords with this scalework exist including basket hilts attributed to the 1st Troop of Horse Guards in the Royal Collection. See J.A.A.S Vol.9 No.6 Pl. LXXIIB.

North Somerset Yeomanry 1847 Pattern Helmet, white metal shell with regimental pattern helmet plate to the centre. Leather backed chin scales with large rosette side bosses. Plume socket and white horse hair plume, missing the rosette top. Interior of the helmet has leather covering to underside of front peak. Also complete with leather liner to the interior. Exterior of the helmet untouched and uncleaned showing patina, horsehair plume is damaged.

British Infantry Officers Home Service Helmet, blue cloth covered cork helmet with velvet backed chin scales, rosette side bosses, cruciform base with rosette fittings and spike fitting. Complete with its leather sweatband to the interior. Missing its helmet plate, front peak trim and rear trim.

Post 1902 The Border Regiment Officers Home Service Helmet, blue cloth example with fine gilt metal kings crowned officers helmet plate with silver and enamel device to the centre. Velvet backed chin scales and rosette side bosses. Cross base with rosettes and spike fitting. Gilt metal front trim and rear spine strap. Leather sweatband to the interior. Samuel Brothers Ltd tailors details to the interior of the helmet. Some light areas of mothing to the blue cloth but much of the gilt wash remains to the fittings.

Scarce Imperial German Model 1842 Pickelhaube, being the large type leather bodied helmet with brass trimmed square dipped peak, scaled leather backed brass chin scales with single large pattern cockade. Prussian eagle helmet plate of 1842 pattern with remains of the Landwehr cross to the centre. Cruciform brass spike base with gilt securing stars, tall pattern fixed spike top. Interior has green leather to underside of peak and original leather liner remains. Helmet shows expected wear in keeping with age of the helmet. A very rare item of Imperial German headdress.

Rare Lippe-Detmold Flugel-Adjutant Pickelhaube, leather bodied shell with square dip peak having silvered trim, Prussian garde pattern officers helmet plate with central starburst for Lippe-Detmold. Officers national and principality state cockades with scaled leather backed white metal chin scales. Cruciform spike base with gilt metal securing stars and fluted officers spike. Helmet retains leather sweatband and officers style cloth lining. Accompanying the helmet is an original officers pattern trench cover with red central band. Helmet is housed in a modern replacement pickelhaube storage case. Colour difference between helmet plate and fittings.

Imperial German Hanoverian (Hannoversches) Pioneer Battalion Nr 10 Officers Pickelhaube, fibre bodied shell with white metal Prussian officers helmet plate having additional “PENINSULA” and “WATERLOO” scrolls. Gilt brass scaled officers chin scales and officers state and national cockades. White metal circular base with gilt brass fixing stars and white metal spike. Leather sweatband and officers style cloth lining. Remains in very good overall condition.
