Yatagan. Osmanisch, wohl Kaukasus-Region, 19. Jahrhundert. L 75cm. Typische, leicht geschwungene Klinge mit beidseitiger, doppelter Kehlung am Rücken und beidseitig tauschiert mit Silbereinlagen, auf einer Seite die Datierung "1262" (=1846). Die eigentliche Klinge möglicherweise älter und hier zweitverwendet. Griffschalen mit typisch ausladenden Enden aus geschnitztem Walross-Zahn (?) jeweils mit vier Eisennieten befestigt. Die versilberte Metallmontierung an Klinge und Griff reich verziert mit Filigran und besetzt mit mehreren mandelförmigen Zierelementen aus Roter Koralle (?). Im Stil süd-russischer Einfluss erkennbar. Dabei eine nicht original zugehörige, etwas spätere Scheide aus versilbertem Zinkspritzguss, diese auf beiden Seiten vollflächig verziert mit Kartuschen mit Armaturen sowie anderen Darstellungen im Stil des Rokoko. Einige Beschädigungen und Reparaturen. Ottoman Yatagan. Typical, slightly curved blade with two narrow grooves on both sides along the back and inlaid with silver on both sides, the date 1262 (= 1846) on one side. The actual blade may be older and used a second time here. Grip scales with typically protruding ends made of carved walrus ivory (?), each one attached with four iron rivets. The silver-plated metal mounting on the blade and the grip is richly decorated with filigree and set with several almond-shaped decorative elements made of red coral (?). In the style South Russian influence is recognizable. Comes with a somewhat later silver-plated zinc scabbard that does not belong to the Yatagan originally and which is fully decorated on both sides with cartouches in the Rococo style. Kippmünzwaage aus Bronze. Spätbyzantinisch / osmanisch, östl. Mittelmeergebiet. L 7,2cm. Kleine Handwaage, auch Seiger genannt, zur schnellen Überprüfung eines Nominals. Der Waagenbalken endet auf der einen Seite in einer halbkreisförmigen, flachen Auflagefläche für die zu wiegende Münze, auf der anderen Seite, die als Gegengewicht dient und mit einer Skala durch Kerbungen für die unterschiedlichen Gewichte versehen ist, in einem flachen Dreieck. In diesem Bereich existiert ein Schieber zur Tarierung der unterschiedlichen Gewichte. Der Haltestab ist mit einem Scharnier am Waagenbalken befestigt. Münzen bis 3,5g können gewogen werden, als Nominal Florentiner. Braungrüne Patina, etwas korrodiert, intakt. Siehe: L. Wamser (Hrsg.), Die Welt von Byzanz. Europas östliches Erbe. A rare pair of English delftware wall pockets, circa 1760Probably Liverpool, modelled as fish, the scales and fins moulded in high relief and charmingly picked out in blue, a sense of rushing water denoted by the delicate blue decoration to the sides of their heads, pierced for suspension, 20.7cm long (2)Footnotes:A pair of similar wall pockets with polychrome decoration is illustrated by Leslie B Grigsby, The Longridge Collection (2000), p.422, no.D379 but the present lot appears to be the only recorded pair in blue and white. The modelling is more detailed on the present monochrome version, with the fish scales simulated individually with light moulding. Victorian mahogany travelling apothecary cabinet, applied with brass plaque (probably later) reading Major Neville Cracroft Taylor 14th Bengal Lancers (Murray's Yat Horse) 1864-1905, the lift up lid containing various photos and postcards, three glass bottles, thermometer, and measuring cup. Pin locked lower draw with with various compartments, two hinged metal boxes, and set of scales, the main compartments with sliding covers revealing a pair of reading glasses and pestle and mortar.
