National Scale Co., Chicopee Falls, Mass., USA: A SET OF EARLY 20TH-CENTURY SACK SCALES, of maroon-painted cast iron, the beam with pulley system, a revolving four-sided brass gauge stamped "Place pieces in the pan", (the four sides callibrated from 0 to 200, 1000, 3000 and 5000 respectively, necessitating placing 4, 20, 60 and 100 pieces in the pan respectively, on a painted stand with maker's name as above, on a pair of scroll supports and a central stem with shield-form plaque stamped "NATIONAL SCALE Co./No 32356/PAT. OCT 16./ 1900", with crescent shaped pan, on a maroon painted base with weighing plate, the side with NSC monogram, 78cm wide x 67cm high, (30.7in x 26.4in)
