Collection of mainly early 20th.C Ordnance Survey maps, differing scales, many linen backed, including : Montrose, Sheet 20, 1908; Anglesey, Sheet 41, 1922; Midlands, 1920, Sheet 5; Isles of Scilly 1933; Truro and St.Austell, 1934, sheet 143, and Lyme Regis, 1910, Sheet 142. A total of 25 maps. CONDITION REPORT: One or two with loss of at least one cover, some fold-wear and repairs on others. Generally a well preserved collection.
A 1938 Patent set of "Jockey" weighing scales by W & T Avery, bears plaque inscribed "Presented by a group of friends in memory of Brother Dan Brodie P.P.G.D Middx. Of the Hemming Lodge No 1512 16th November 1938" CONDITION REPORTS Scales appear to have been stripped down and re-waxed/oiled, various wear and tarnish to metal fitments, grooves cut to right-hand legs and with screw holes within the grooves (please see photos), it is not known whether or not scales are complete.
A mid 19c five dial scroll pediment wheel barometer by Fagoli & Son, 11 Baldwin Gardens. The indications comprise, top to bottom, a hygrometer, a mercury Fahrenheit thermometer, a convex wall mirror, the large 12" diam barometer dial and a spirit level. The case is of mahogany with ebonised edge banding and the scales are all of silvered brass. The case is surmounted by a scroll pediment with central ivory finials, the convex glass over the barometer dial is broken, the barometer stands 40" tall.
