Lippe-Detmold Flugel-Adjutant Pickelhaube, leather bodied shell with square dip peak having silvered trim, Prussian garde pattern officers helmet plate with central starburst for Lippe-Detmold. Officers national and principality state cockades with scaled leather backed white metal chin scales. Cruciform spike base with gilt metal securing stars and fluted officers spike. Helmet retains leather sweatband and officers style cloth lining. Colour difference between helmet plate and fittings, helmet has been made up using parts from another helmet to represent this type of helmet, sold as a parts helmet.
Imperial German Mecklenburg Officers Shako, a good all leather bodied shako for an officer of Mecklenburg Jager Battalion No.14. Front and back peaks excellent, complete with its large Mecklenburg officers double constructed front plate with flat gilded chin scales, its correct and rare Mecklenburg bullion red, blue and yellow velvet centred field cockade, complete with a national serrated edge cockade fitted to the right hand side of the helmet. Inner leather liner and brown inner silk liner with old collectors label attached to the upper inner crown in German describing the helmet and its history. Rare Bavarian M1852 Royal Bavarian Hartschiere Life Guards Enlisted Mans Helmet, The Personal Bodyguard of King Ludwig II of Bavaria, fine example of the plated steel body having large brass domed rivets around the edge of the shell, thick brass trim around the whole part of the shell. Large central crowned gilt helmet plate with the Bavarian coat of arms to the centre. Circular cockades in gilt metal with the Bavarian crown to centre, brass leather backed chin scales in a ringed pattern. The helmet is fitted with large gilt brass standing lion to the top, however this is a later replacement. Underside of the peak is finished in green and the rear peak in black. Brass plaque with “41” to the rear peak. Helmet is complete with its original black leather liner. Small crack to the shell on the lower side and some plating has been lost. Generally a good example of a very rare Imperial German helmet. The unit was formed to be the Royal Guard of the Bavarian Royal Family. The lion top was for wear in everyday service and a plume was worn for ceremonial occasions. To serve in this unit you had to of completed a long period of military service and had a faultless record of service. Officers were specially selected by the king. The unit was extremely small, in 1914 it was approximately 60 strong.
Imperial German Garde du Corps / Garde Cuirassier Enlisted Mans / NCO’s Parade Helmet, good example of an early pattern helmet having steeped front peak trimmed in nickel silver. Riveted rear lobster tail peak. Enlisted ranks pattern reichs and Prussian state cockades with screwed in brass leather backed chin scales. The helmet is fitted with other ranks type starburst helmet plate to the centre and parade pattern eagle with removable brass crown. Interior has the original leather liner system. Remains of the green leather covering to the underside of the peak. The helmet shows some wear and possibly has some repaired or replaced parts.
A fine and very rare late 19th century mahogany eight day, spring driven wall regulator of small sizeCharles Frodsham, No.84, Strand, London, Clock Maker to the Queen, No. 1097The arched case with long glazed door framed by a D-moulded edge to a concave-shaped base, hung on a substantial suspension loop to the backboard, the lockable door opening on three brass hinges and inset with a dust rebate and baize lining, a carved and pierced foliate cresting sits below the dial and is secured from behind by four brass screws; the 6.25 inch one-piece silvered dial with Arabic minute track enclosing the large subsidiaries for running seconds (marked in Arabic 10s, with observatory marks between) and Roman hours with blued steel trefoil hand, the winding square with engraved and shaded direction arrow, secured in the case via three blued steel screws to the dial edge locating into double-screwed brass plates mounted behind the dial; the substantial movement set on a thick mahogany backboard by three long brass screws and L-shaped brackets, with arched plates united by five turned ringed pillars screwed through the backplate with heavy blued steel screws and bronze collars, with Harrison's maintaining power to the chain fusee, the wheels of five crossings and with high count pinions, the deadbeat 'scape wheel set in jewelled bearings, the pallets similarly mounted and with inset jewelled faces, to a long steel crutch with micrometer regulation to a circular section pendulum rod and mercury-filled canister bob, suspended from a heavy brass bracket mounted on the backboard, reading against the original signed boxwood beat scale with stamped scales for inches and degrees of arc.
