A 19th century mahogany travelling medicine chest or apothecary cabinet, with brass top carrying handle above two hinged doors, enclosing various compartments for bottles and five drawers, the smaller central drawers with sliding covers, a large drawer to base only accessible when main cabinet is open, a secret slide to the back of cabinet opening to reveal segmented compartments for further bottles, the cabinet fitted with various accoutrements (some of the period), to include a scarificator by Whitford, stamped St. Bartholmews Hospital, A leather cased medical set by Weiss, London, the leather pouch embossed with 'CAPTN FITZ WILLIAMS, R.A.M.C.T.', many jars/bottles, scales & weights, lancet, fleam, phials, etc etc, height 13½in. (34.3cm.). *Condition: the cabinet in good condition, with wear to high points and edges, no key, accoutrements in varying conditions, overall very good.
