Pommel and grip scales with damage, orange rust pitting to the guard, with deep pitting in places to the scabbard.

An 1871 Pattern Cavalry Trooper's Helmet, with silver plated shell surmounted by a red and white horsehair plume set into the brass fluted plume holder with lobed quatrefoil base plate, brass binding to the front and back brim, later four part helmet plate to 5th Dragoon Guards, with brass ear rosettes and leather backed chin scales, with leather liner, the inner back brim stamped 1D 5-1 4217.Small dents to the shell. Helmet plate does not sit correctly, probably a replacement. Some flaking to the surface of the leather liner. Plume has been trimmed.
