A ruby, sapphire and diamond ring, converted from a 19th Century sweetheart brooch, modelled as twin hearts beneath a bow, 9ct gold shank, size N CONDITION REPORT: Weight 4.5gm. Minor abrasions to the coloured stones at facets. Some scattered minor chipping to diamonds. Overall appearance good.
A gold and gem-set pendant, by Payne & Trigg, 1976, the quartz geode within an openwork mount formed of undulating and textured 9 carat gold, with cushion-shaped ruby and brilliant-cut diamond highlights, UK hallmark, maker's marks T.A.P and C.P.T, length 5.2cm/Note: Thomas Payne (1935 - 2019) was educated at Dean Close School, Cheltenham. He obtained a scholarship to the Royal College of Art however opted to study Industrial Design at the Leicester College of Art. In 1963 Payne was one of four jewellers selected for an exhibition at the department store J.L Hudson Company, Detroit, that showcased the work of young British jewellery designers. Along with Payne, the three other jewellers selected were Andrew Grima, John Donald and David Thomas. Payne later partnered with Peter Trigg, having met at college, to form the jewellery workshop Hephaestus/see illustration CONDITION REPORT: Geode appears in good condition with typical structure evident on both sides. Rubies bright, one slightly less so, some minor abrasions evident under 10x magnification but otherwise too small to accurately assess (as with diamonds). Reverse with threaded fitting and brooch clasp - pin (with threaded fitting) deficient and currently wearable only as a pendant. Minor wear to gold. Overall good condition.
An 18ct, ruby, sapphire and diamond set circular cluster ring, size L, gross 3.2 grams, a yellow metal and foil backed amethyst paste and diamond set cluster ring, size T, gross 3.8 grams and a yellow metal, ruby, diamond and split pearl set half hoop ring, size Q, gross 2.1 grams.CONDITION: Sapphire ruby diamond- Diamond is chipped and one ruby is chipped.Amethyst paste- 2 paste stones are chipped. Ring head and shank probably associated.Half hoop- One pearl has lost nacreous layers. Shank has been repaired or later added and gold colour differs on both shoulders. Both rubies and the diamond have tiny chips.
