Samtüberzogene Holzscheide mit drei en suite getriebenen Silberbeschlägen, auf der Schauseite jeweils kuppelförmiges Zierelement im Zentrum. Samtbezug mit späterer Ergänzung, eine Tragespange fehlt, der Ortbeschlag einseitig aufgeplatzt. Länge 96 cm. Zustand: II -A Hungarian silver-mounted magnate‘s sabre set with stones, 19th century Curved single-edged blade with double-edged point decorated on both sides with engraved stars and trophy bundles. On the back of the blade maker’s inscription "Guillaume Knecht Fabriquant a Solingen". Florally chased and engraved silver hilt, the obverse with applied silver filigree set with emeralds, diamonds and a ruby. Velvet-covered wooden scabbard with three silver mounts chased en suite, each with domed decorative element on the obverse. Velvet cover with later replacement, one suspension bar missing, the chase burst on one side. Length 96 cm.Condition: II -

Imperial German Thuringen Field Artillery Regiment Nr 55 Deluxe Artificial Damascus Russia Eastern Front Campaign Presentation Officers Sword, superb untouched example of a grosser hilt pattern officers dress sword with fine relief of oak leaves to the knuckle bow, leading to large lion head top set with ruby coloured glass eyes and fine relief back strap. Cross guard langet with relief and mounted with crossed cannons, reverse with plain shield. Attached to the hilt is an officers leather and bullion wire dress portepee. The curved pipe back blade in watered artificial Damascus steel with remains of the gilt inlay still present to the presentation inscription to the blade. The four part scroll presentation is flanked by foliage, “Meinem lieben Gunther Scharmer z.Frdl. Erinnerung an gemeinsam erlebte frohe und eruste Zeiten Russland 1915 Dr Bayer”. The reverse side of the blade has the regimental cipher below a full list of 20 names, possibly places he passed through during the advance east in 1915. Some staining and light spotting to the blade also a small kink towards the lower tip but otherwise an interesting presentation sword. Blade 83 ½ cms, overall 98cms. Berlin makers details to the spine of the blade.

Imperial German Field Artillery Regiment Nr 9 “General Feldmarschall Graf Waldersee” Deluxe Pattern Presentation Officers Sword, good untouched example with fine relief of a female figure to the knuckle guard, leading to lion head inset with ruby coloured jewelled eyes and relief of a mythical creature to the back strap. Original grip with much of the wire binding still present. The langet has a silver and enamel garde insignia to the centre and the reverse with engraved initials. Curved pipe back blade with a watered artificial Damascus finish. To the top section of the blade is a etched decoration in the form of patterns and crowned FAR over number 9, also marked “EISENHAUER DAMST-STAHL”, spine has makers details of “GUST GUNTHER METZ”. Other side of the blade has three part scroll with “Gelde S/L Nagel, Metz 1891/92”. Remains of the gilt finish to both sides of the blade. Some surface staining and spotting but otherwise a good untouched example. Blade 85 ½ cms, overall 100 ½ cms.

Lot 392

Imperial German Cavalry Officers Blue, Gilt and Damascus Presentation Sword, fine example of a grosser hilt pattern officers dress sabre with fine deep relief of oak leaves to the knuckle bow, leading to lion head with inset ruby coloured glass eyes and relief to the back strap. Grip retains the original wire binding. Cavalry pattern crossed swords and lances to the langet with the reverse having knights helmet relief and blank shield. Housed in its original blued steel scabbard with single hanging ring. Leather and bullion portepee attached to the hilt. Curved piped back blade with artificial Damascus decoration, the top section of the blade with double sided blue and gilt panels. One side is etched with the presentation “Fahnrich v.Mosch seinem verhrten Schiffner”. The reverse side of the blade is etched with trophies of arms and foliage. Under the langet is stamped “Damaststahl”. Blade has makers details to the spine of Gustav Schernick, Berlin. Some light areas of spotting near to the tip and slight areas of the blue and gilt loss but generally still a very good example. Blade measures 83cms, overall 100cms.

Lot 405

WW2 German Army Officers “Scharnhorst” Pattern Dress Sword by Carl Eickhorn, fine example with much of the gilt finish remaining to the hilt, langet and the Puma head top. Fine quality raised down winged eagle to the langet, oakleaves relief to the knucklebow and fine quality Puma head with glass ruby coloured eyes. Stamped to the underside of the cross guard “D.R.P”. A cloth and bullion wire dress portepee is attached to the sword. Housed in its original blackened scabbard with single hanging ring. Slightly curved plain blade with fuller to three quarter length of the blade. Carl Eickhorn makers trade mark to the base of the blade. The blade measures 81cms, overall 95 ½ cms.
