A pair of Samuel Alcock, Staffordshire Chemist's or Pharmacy display jars, circa 1850-60, of Leech Jar shape with covers, decorated in ruby and gold with inscribed labels for Tamarinds and Honey, 29cm high, embossed maker's marks (4)/Provenance: from the Henry Sandon Study Collection CONDITION REPORT: Both covers are cracked into several pieces and restuck (one also reinforced with old tape) and with some chipping. 'Tamarinds' with one handle cracked and restuck, the other ''Honey' with some hairline cracking through handles. Both jars with some stained yellow crazing to glaze and some rubbing to gilding overall.
A William de Morgan lustre dish, a Minton tile and a Burmantoft spoon warmer, circa 1890-1905, the small dish with an 'Aesthetic' design in ruby lustre, 22cm, unmarked, the Secessionist tile with a peacock by John Wadsworth and Leon Solon, 15.3cm x 7.6cm, embossed Minton mark, the flambé spoon warmer in the shape of Luhai's Toad, 14cm (cracks) (3)/Provenance: from the Henry Sandon Study Collection CONDITION REPORT: The tile with a very small glaze chip to one corner. The plate with a very small rim chip and some later matt red retouching to areas of red lustre that have misfired, some minor wear and surface scratching, the toad spoon warmer cracked across one front leg and restuck.
