A Good Late 18th Century Indian Shamshir, with 75.5cm single edge curved Wootz blade, the green jade hilt carved with a stiff leaf collar, the pommel carved as a ram's head with gold backed eyes, one set with a ruby, the cast silver crossguard with green and blue foliate champleve enamelled decoration, with ram's head quillons, the gold velvet covered scabbard embroidered with foliage in bullion wire thread and with champleve enamel twin suspender bands and chape, 92.5cm Footnote: Possibly made under the influence of Claude Martin of the Lucknow Arsenal. Pommel with only one ruby set eye. Pitting to blade, a nick and rust patching at the tip. Small areas of enamel loss. Some perishing and damage to the velvet scabbard where the locket would have been.
