SIMEON STAFFORD (b.1956) Unframed, signed, oil on canvas, Naïve busy beach scene with sunbathers before house on hill to right side and sailing boats on horizon beyond. Stafford moved to Cornwall in 1996, resulting in a great deal of his work influenced by the Cornish coastline. He has developed a number of recurring motifs in his work, which can be looked out for, such as 'Dot', a young girl cartwheeling across the canvas (his aunt as a child), 'Ruby', a young girl with pigtails and sometimes a man with red stripy trousers leading a small boy by the hand (Simeon with his son). Previously exhibiting at the R.A. in 2001, Simeon also has his work in the Queen's private collection, 111.5cm x 142.5cm. Provenance: Purchased directly from the artist. (ARR).
