Condition Report Six animal etched glasses are ok. One glass cup is cracked. One glass cup has a star crack to the base. The decanter has no stopper. The gilding is rubbed slightly overall.
SIMEON STAFFORD (b.1956) Unframed, signed, oil on board, dated and titled verso, '10.82', 'Harbour Scene St Ives', Naïve busy coastal scene, with figures playing on beach before an beached orange sailed boat. Stafford moved to Cornwall in 1996, resulting in a great deal of his work influenced by the Cornish coastline. He has developed a number of recurring motifs in his work, which can be looked out for, such as 'Dot', a young girl cartwheeling across the canvas (his aunt as a child), 'Ruby', a young girl with pigtails and sometimes a man with red stripy trousers leading a small boy by the hand (Simeon with his son). Previously exhibiting at the R.A. in 2001, Simeon also has his work in the Queen's private collection, 43cm x 62cm. Provenance: Purchased directly from the artist. (ARR).
A diamond brooch in the form of a tortoise with domed back and ruby set eyes, 3 cm long CONDITION REPORTS Some general wear. Some discolouration to rim, and a blob/repair to the underside of the rim, possibly where one of the small edge diamonds may have been replaced. There is a tubular structure inside the tortoise with a screw thread inside it, designed to receive a post or similar. Total weight including chain and pin 6.4 gms. We are not qualified gemologists and are unable to comment on colour, clarity or inclusions, and strongly recommend viewing in person.
