A late 19th century carved opal cameo pendant possibly by Wilhelm Schmidt, depicting a bust portrait of a classical maiden in an open-work carved surround, decorated with rubies, rose diamonds and enamel, suspended from a sapphire, ruby , emerald, diamond and enamel surmount. A collection of unique magic lantern slides, c.1923, illustrating a trip around Venice and Milan, to include introductory maps, street and interior scenes and paintings, in three boxes, together with the Thornton-Pickard 'Junior Special Ruby' camera and accessories, with which the photographs were taken, and a converted magic lantern (qty.) The vendor's grandfather, Ernest Henry Jacques, stayed in the Hotel Metropole during his time in Venice. He was an amateur photographer whose images included sensitive compositions of street families and also of the architecture and artworks more commonly associated with this form of 'turismo'.
