A group of predominantly hallmarked silver items including a three piece cruet set, Barker Bros, Chester 1908, height 12.5cm, a pin dish, Aspreys, Sheffield 1996, a pair of Mexican silver examples, a Scandinavian 800 standard silver heart shaped example and another set with George VI coin, Birmingham 1970, a pair of chromed metal and brass squat candlesticks with panorama of Jerusalem motifs and a small pill box, also a white metal mounted ruby glass bottle, combined silver approx 15.1ozt (13). CONDITION REPORT: The ruby glass bottle is in ok condition as it isn't very old.
Two Victorian 18ct yellow gold diamond and ruby dress rings, Chester 1899 and Birmingham 1888, sizes L and M1/2, and a further ring with marquise shaped platform set with oval turquoise cabochon within border of diamonds, the largest approx 0.6ct, size N1/2, (two stones missing), combined approx 9.8g (3).
A late 19th century Bohemian ruby glass table lustre painted with gilt heightened floral motifs, with drops, height 36cm, with glass dome (base missing). CONDITION REPORT: Numerous fine nibbles to bottom edge of the base, areas of rubbing to the gild particularly to upper part of the band, minor surface wear, otherwise appears in good condition, the drops generally in good condition with odd nibbles to the edges, the appear to be associated as they seem to be too long in proportions to the lustre.
A Victorian brass Corinthian column oil lamp with opaque ruby and white glass reservoir, height 60cm including fittings, a further example with floral painted reservoir and foliate embossed band to the base, also two associated tulip shaped shades and a funnel (5). CONDITION REPORT: Taller lamp: dirty, wear/rubbing to finish, residue on reservoir, shade with abrasions. Smaller lamp: reservoir with rubbing to decoration and abrasions, rubbing to brass finish, nibbles and rough patches to shade.
Two late 18th century Pratt type plaques, the rectangular example 15 x 11cm, a pink and copper lustre glazed beaker, etc, also a pair on 19th century gilt heightened ruby glass cups and saucers with covers (one af). CONDITION REPORT: The plaques have been restored. There is one cup that has lost its finial. Please view in person to check condition.Diameter of cups approx. 5.3cm externally.
George Stacey (1787-1857) English Quaker and Abolitionist, rare Daguerreotype Portraits, an important collection of 17 portraits comprising 9 cased daguerreotypes, 7 collodion positives (1 ruby glass) and a coloured salted-paper print. Subjects include George Stacey, Mary Stacey, John Barclay Stacey, Henry George Stacey, Ellen Howard (with baby Effie), William Barclay and various other family members. Photographers include Timothy Le Beau (2), Antoine F.J. Claudet (3), William E. Kilburn (1), Richard Beard (1) and John J.E. Mayall (1). Many plates presented in their original named and gilt-tooled leather cases, various sizes (sixth plate, quarter plate, half plate etc.) One case bearing an old penned paper label inscribed 'George Stacey and Mary Stacey of Lordship House, taken about 1854-56. He died 1857 She died 1876'. Others labelled 'JBS and HGS', 'Ellen Howard with Effie', 'William Barclay taken Aug. 1856 age 66 and 6 months', etc. Notes: George Stacey was a partner in a firm of chemists and had various other business interests including a stake in the Stockton and Darlington Railway. In 1818 he married Deborah Lloyd (of the Lloyd's banking family) who bore him eight children. She died in 1841 and he subsequently married Mary Barclay. No offspring resulted from this union. Stacey became a leading member of the newly-formed Anti-Slavery Society (1823) and was one of four British delegates sent to America to help resolve matters following a schism within the Society of Friends, in Salum, Iowa (1842-3). Stacey is depicted in the foreground of an oil painting by Samuel Lucas showing the 1840 Anti-Slavery Convention (National Portrait Gallery Collection, London) and he is also identified in a few related prints. Photographs of him, however, appear to be rarely encountered in the public domain. A daguerreotype of another British Abolitionist, George Donisthorpe Thompson (1804-1878), also by Richard Beard, c.1841, can be found in the collection of Boston Public Library. This is presented in a 'Beard' case, as indeed is the example included in the present Please note that ref. numbers 1, 4 and 5 on the list of portraits identifying the sitters are subsequent lots - 136, 137, 138. Ref. numbers 15, 16 and 17 are pairs - hence the total number of portraits in this lot is 17.

A pendant comprising: gold wire hoop with twisted loops, ends coiled about the shank; plano-convex amethyst bead, oblate turquoise and ruby beads, facetted green glass bead. 7.56 grams, 43mm (1 3/4"). Property of a European gentleman; acquired on the German art market before 2000.[No Reserve] Fine condition.
16th century AD. A gold finger ring comprising a D-section hoop with acanthus leaf detailing to the outer face and facetted shoulders, ellipsoid bezel with hatched scrolls and bird-heads to the angles linking the shoulders, scooped detailing to the perimeter of the cell, inset with a table-cut 'pigeon's blood' Burmese ruby. Cf. Chadour, A.B. Rings. The Alice and Louis Koch Collection, volume I, Leeds, 1994, item 712 for type.11 grams, 29mm overall, 19.67mm internal diameter (approximate size British T, USA 9 3/4, Europe 21.76, Japan 21) (1 1/4"). Property of a UK gentleman; acquired from a London gallery in the late 1980s; formerly from a private European collection, formed in the 1960s and 1970s; supplied with geologic report No. TL004767, by geologic consultant Dr R. 16th-17th century AD. A hollow-formed gold discoid plaque with outer ring of rectangular cells each set with a cabochon ruby, central rosette of larger similar stones with triangular cabochons to the spandrels; rear stud in knotted configuration; probably Deccan workmanship. 4.46 grams, 18mm (3/4"). From the Knee family collection; acquired by Win Crockett, the current owner's mother, part of her jewellery collection formed in the 1970s-1990s; thence by decent 2005.[No Reserve] Very fine condition.
19th century AD. A matched pair of gold earrings, each a hollow-formed teardrop body with hook and inset dark ruby cabochon, collar of discoid cells with dark sapphire cabochon inserts, bulb below with knop finial. 12 grams total, 46-47mm (1 3/4"). Property of a North London lady; gifted from her father's collection; formerly with a Mayfair gallery, London, UK; previously acquired in the 1980s. Dark-coloured, semi-translucent stones such as these from this period and general area are likely to have come from the Kashmir deposits. [2] Extremely fine condition.
