A historically important gold, enamel and gem set presentation medallion pendant, commemorating the state visit of French president Emile Loubet to Italy in 1904. the front with two enamelled cartouches depicting a miniature portrait of Emile Loubet and the French and Italian tricolours, beneath rose-cut diamond and enamel French and Italian coats of arms, the heavily jewelled surmount of rose-cut diamond foliate tendrils to a pave set emerald, diamond and ruby stylised surround, symbolising the national colours of Italy, the gold back heavily chased with a Frenchman and an Italian, in traditional national costumes, shaking hands, a triangular-cut ruby 'sun' rising between Alps in the background. Together with a gold and gem set plaque, with a blue enamelled legend in Italian, explaining the gift of the pendant to President Loubet from the province and people of the city of Turin. The pendant attached to a later cable twist chain, stamped '18k'.
