WW2 German Army Officers Sword Model Nr 1734 Zieten Pattern by Carl Eickhorn, Solingen, good untouched example of a panther head sword with ruby eyes, flat knuckle guard and langet with down winged eagle. Stamped ‘D.R.P’ to the underside of the cross guard. Housed in the original blacked scabbard. Polished slightly curved blade with the makers trademark to the base. The blade measures 82 ½ cms, overall 97cms. Some plating wear to the blade, exterior nice untouched dark patina.
Third Reich SS (Schutzstaffel) Lion Head Officers Sword by Alcoso, Solingen, good lion head pattern officers sword with jewelled ruby eyes, silver plated mounts (possibly originally gilded and worn off), black celluloid grip with wire binding. Bullion sword portepee with black fleck, type associated with the SS. Housed in the blackened scabbard with single hanging ring. Plain curved blade with fuller to three quarters of the back edge. Makers trademark to the base under the langet. Blade measures 85 ½ cms, overall 107cms. Some wear to the scabbard and blade but still a desirable sword. Before the introduction of the standard SS sword degen, many German army swords were worn by SS officers, many either being silver plated or having the gilt finish removed, some examples have green jewelled eyes or the red like this example. Scarce Imperial German / 1930’s Deluxe Pattern Military Academy Officials Parade Sword, fine quality officers lion head sword with jewelled ruby eyes. Fine deep relief of oakleaves to the knuckle guard, cross guard with lion head finial and langet with crossed flaming torches. Reverse of the langet with deep cut / relief with shield for the owners initials to be engraved. Shagreen covered grip with wire binding. Housed in leather and plated fittings scabbard with staples to the reverse of the scabbard mounts and two hanging rings. Fine curved polish blade with etched decoration including trophy of arms. Makers details to the base of the blade under the langet, but this is not clear. Blade 74cms, overall 97cms. An interesting and unusual sword.
