A late Victorian ruby and diamond dress ring, of scrolled design, highlighted with a trio of oval and circular mixed-cut rubies, framed by single-cut diamonds, hallmarked for Birmingham 1900, inscribed, and an amethyst intaglio, with closed foil-backed setting and later ring mount, ring sizes M and O½ respectively (2)First ring: surface-reaching fractures, scuffs and chips to rubies, all have inclusions that are just visible to the unaided eye. Diamonds also have a fractured, included appearance. The mount has general surface wear, chips and scuffs, and is inscribed 'Jack... Edina, Mysie' to the interior. The shank has been re-sized. Hallmarks are clearly struck. Gross weight approximately 4.7gm. Second ring: scuffs and chips to intaglio, patchy staining/slight discolouration to foil backing. Solder at junctions of setting to later ring mount and re-sizing solder join to back of shank. The setting and ring mount are of different hues and both have general surface wear, chips and scuffs. Metal standards are untested. Gross weight approximately 4.6gm.

The rubies have fairly vibrant pinkish-red hues with small fracture/feather and mineral inclusions visible under magnification, each stone measuring approximately 2.3mm diameter. Hallmarked for Birmingham 2010, marks are clearly struck. Gross weight approx. 20.2gm.
