A Victorian gold coloured diamond and ruby set bracelet, the curb-link bracelet with applied leaf motifs set with rose cut diamonds and mixed cut rubies, applied pad marked ?15CT?, length approx. 20cm, suspending a later 15ct gold heart shaped padlock fastener, 22mm x 15mm, weight 23.2gmsCR; One ruby is missing to one of the leaves. Many of the rubies and diamonds show small chips, nibbles, general scratching and wear commensurate with age and use - a few of the stones show slightly larger chips. The links connecting the padlock fastening show thinning and light splitting and denting. All other links show general scratching, tarnish and wear commensurate with age and wear, and the seams to the inside of the links show varying degrees of separation from mild to moderate. Padlock fastener and safety chain is in good order, no splitting, thinning or signs of repair. Marks to applied pad are heavily worn.

An Edwardian diamond and ruby set 18ct gold ring, comprising an oval mixed cut ruby flanked by two round mixed cut diamonds, scroll design shoulders continuing to plain polished 18ct gold shank, marks for Birmingham 1903, ring size M ½, together with a similar gold coloured diamond and ruby set ring, shank unmarked, size N, weight of pair 6.0gms (2)CR; Example pictured left: The central ruby shows moderate scratching and wear, heavy nibbling around the facet edges of the table, and a small fracture running across two of the outer facets. One of the diamonds has a surface reaching fracture, and a couple of large chips around the table. All stones are present and secure. the head and shoulders are in good order, no splitting or signs of repair. There is some misshaping and thinning to the shank (see pictures), but no splitting or signs of repair. Hallmarks are crisp and legible.Example pictured right: Central garnet shows scratching and wear, but no chips, cracks or losses. Diamond chips appear in good order, no large chips or losses, but crystal naturals are visible. There is splitting running behind the head of the ring (see pictures for illustration). Engraved decoration to head and shoulders is clear and in good order. Shank shows some minor misshaping and minor thinning, but no splits or signs of repair. A LARGE CHINESE FAMILLE ROSE SGRAFFIATO RUBY-GROUND 'QIN QI SHU HUA' VASE QIANLONG-JIAQING PERIOD 1736-1820 Finely decorated on one side with scenes of scholars and boys in a garden, and figures playing weiqi and holding scrolls, all enclosed within shaped panels decorated with bats and all reserved on a sgraffiato ruby-enamelled ground interspersed with lotus and other leafy floral sprays between borders of ruyi-heads above and key fret below. The waisted neck decorated with flowerheads suspending chimes, fish and endless knots, and flanked by a pair of moulded kui-dragon handles, the base and interior turquoise, 66cm. Cf. S G Valenstein, A Handbook of Chinese Ceramics, p.269, no.278 for a closely related vase in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, see also Christie's, New York, 17th September, lot 1420, for another vase of this design. The qin qi shu hua are the four attributes of Chinese scholars.
