Also on the top of one of the lustres there is a small piece that has been broken off and re-glued.

A 19TH CENTURY VARI GEM-SET HALLEY'S COMET BROOCH, circa 1835, modelled with a cluster of cushion-shaped diamonds centred with an oval mixed-cut ruby, framed by a foliate engraved tail with step-cut emerald terminal, in closed-back setting throughout, gold and silver mounted, with later safety catch, length 2.4cm The sighting of Halley's Comet in November 1835 sparked a wave of jewellery influenced by the shape of the comet as it approached the sun. Often diamonds and coloured gemstones were used to create the centre of the comet, with an elaborate goldwork tail tapering from it.
