A VICTORIAN ROYAL WORCESTER PART TEA SERVICE, pale turquoise ground painted with enamels in relief with birds and insects with gilt foliage, pattern No.9158, initialled TR to the undersides, comprising two bread and butter plates, twelve saucers and twelve cups, painted and printed and impressed marks, date cyphers comprise 1875, one cup 1882 and one cup 1926, some damage, particularly to cups (26)(condition)Bread and butter plates, both are free from chips, cracks or restoration but they do have evidence of light wear/scratches in the glaze, there is wear to the gilding in patches and some wear to the paint in a few places on both plates, such as on ladybirds back, dragonfly’s head, butterfly’s wing, saucers: one has a substantial crack running through the body, it has stained brown, another has a large break which has been given a glued repair, there is also a crack through the body which is stained, another has some dark marks on the underside, the remaining nine saucers are in fair order but with some gilding wear of varying degrees as well as wear to the painted decoration in varying degrees, Cups: majority show signs of use due to staining, crazing inside, particularly towards the bases, one has a large running from the rim which also has two pieces glued back in, two cups have stained/crazed interiors, one is light, the other heavy, two are in reasonable condition, two have single stained cracks in the rims but free from staining/crazing to the interior bases, the remaining five have varying degrees of stained/crazed interiors from light to heavy, all five have cracks from the rims, one has two cracks and one has a repaired handle, all cups have varying degrees of gilding wear and elements of wear to the paint.
