DOWDING HUGH: (1882-1970) British Air Chief Marshal, Commander of RAF Fighter Command during the Battle of Britain. A.L.S., Dowding, two pages, 8vo, Southborough, Tunbridge Wells, 7th July 1955, to Lord Beaverbrook (1879-1964) Canadian-British Business Tycoon, Minister of Aircraft Production 1940-41. Dowding invites Beaverbrook to lunch and tea at his home, also offering an alternative date, if it is more convenient, at the United Service Club in Pall Mall. Two file holes appear to the left edge, only very slightly affecting a few letters of text, but not the signature. A couple of minor staple holes appear in the upper left corner. About VG
Fine Victorian four-piece tea and coffee service of Georgian hexagonal vase shape with concave edges and engraved swags and crested cartouches, on elongated hexagonal bases with moulded edges, the sugar basket and milk jug with registration mark for 1873, by F. Elkington 1882/3, superb unused condition, 63oz.
